  • According the the CNN news story, this reveals more about global wealth than about the value of fine art.

    I couldn't disagree more. Clearly the painting is viewed as a masterpiece, and the astounding price suggests that Freud is now considered a master artist.

    Obviously fine art is highly valued today or this wouldn't be a news story. This is record breaking art news. Freud now sits alongside Rafael

    The "art expert" CNN interviewed is out of touch with art history.
