Appears that after the screen went down, the fans were going after each other. Game's not on? Let's fight! This guy gets knocked out cold. Crazy.
The Rangers fans are notorious for their racist chanting and violent outbreaks. After their last European final, they were banned from European competitions for their belligerent behaviour.
Police arrested 42 people, and according to the article, one Russian fan was stabbed inside the stadium.
I wonder about the football hooligan culture. What is it that makes these guys so aggressive over football matches? -
Football Hooliganism is modern day tribalism fueled by hatred , fear and alcohol.
But what happened in the fans park at Picadilly Manchester cannot be compared to the violence we have seen in past decades. These chaps travelled a long way to enjoy watching their team compete for European silver ware. There was no trouble all day as they gathered, drank and chanted. It only kicked off when they where denied the chance to watch the game. -
Police in Manchester have released CCTV images showing up to 200 football fans chasing officers and attacking one of them after the Uefa Cup final.
Greater Manchester Police said a total of 15 officers suffered minor injuries and a police dog cut its paw after treading on broken glass.

I understand why you use the word hooligans to describe them, however I would have to say they are not.
You have to first understand the people who support Rangers. They are the detritus of Scottish society not only from Glasgow but from every city and town. The majority of them harbour bigoted and racist beliefs. They do not consider themselves as Scottish but as British (as can be seen by the numerous union jacks, singing rule brittania etc) and some even support England rather than Scotland.
The violence was inevitable as they have no social concious and have done this all over Europe before, this time there was 100,000 of them making them even bolder.
Please do not consider them as Scottish, British, English or any other grouping except from scum.-

I would say they are hooligans, if you define a hooligan as a violent young troublemaker, typically one of a gang.
