In an historic address to the Knesset on Thursday, U.S. President George Bush reiterated America's commitment to Israel and said his country was "proud to be Israel's closest ally and best friend."

Bush, on a three-day visit to Israel on the occasion of its 60th anniversary, told a special session of Knesset that "Masada will not fall again," in reference to the Roman-era desert fortress which he visited earlier in the day.

  • This is a post I found at www.whatreallyhappened.com today, but was unable to link to current.com. I am an American first, Democrat second. As President he should be American first, sencond and third. He should represent and speak for all of us, not a particular party.

President Bush committed political treason today

But what Bush did in Israel this morning goes well beyond the accepted confines of American political debate, When the president speaks to a foreign parliament on behalf of our country, his message needs to be clear and unambiguous. Our democracy may look messy to outsiders, and we may have our disagreements with some sharp elbows thrown around, but at the end of the day we are not Republicans or Democrats or liberals or conservatives.

    We are Americans.

And you, Mr. Bush, are the leader of us all. To use a diplomatic setting on foreign soil to score a cheap political point at home is way beneath your office, way beneath your country, and way beneath the people you serve. You have been handed an office once uplifted to great heights by fellow countrymen from Washington to Lincoln to Roosevelt to Eisenhower, and have plunged it so deeply into the Karl-Rove-and-Rush-Limbaugh-fueled world of political destruction and survival of all costs that have lost all perspective -- and all sense of decency. To travel to Israel and to associate a sitting American senator and your possible successor in the Oval Office with those who at one time gave comfort to an enemy of the United States is, in and of itself, an act of political treason.

Note: While I agree with the sentiment, 'it's wrong to make such statements on foreign soil, I would not label it as treason. I personally don't know enough about treason laws to label it treason. But I have no doubt, it was in very poor taste.

  • this wasn't the only thing Bush has done in poor tatse. Just about any word that comes out of his mouth is done in poor taste.. Just yesterday he tells the country that he will no longer play golf in support to the soldiers. he didn't think it was right for him to be out playing while men , women and children were being killed everyday. I think he could do alot more then just stop playing golf...
To be honest all Bush cares about is filling his oil reserves and nothing more

  • Had we duct taped a heavy plastic bag over Dumya's head back when Homeland Security was helping us secure America from dangers like the movement of his lips sans the presence of his brain, we'd be rid of him by now. Of course, we'd've had to shoot Dick Vader too.

    Terror Eyes

    There are many people
Who have stored in their minds
Times they try hard to forget
When someone they looked up to
    Chose to abuse them
    From that moment on
    They see the world
    Through terror eyes

    Two children get placed
In the back of their car
    Their parents kiss them
And then get in the front
    Another day of happiness
    They haven’t gone far
When they are hit by a drunk
    The parents are killed
Happy eyes suddenly become terror eyes

    A man and his wife
    Did everything possible
    To live a life
    Filled with kindness and Love
    Retired from their jobs
And moved out to the country
    Fulfilling their dreams
    One night after midnight
    Two strangers came knocking
    They answered the door
Wanting to help if they could
    The men tied them up
    Then ransacked their farmhouse
    Killed them
So they could not be identified
    Of all the beautiful visions
    Gained in a lifetime
    The last thing they saw
    Was through terror eyes

    An old woman lives
All alone in a large house
    That she helped her husband
    Build
    Many years before
    Everywhere she looks
    It’s just an endless memory
    At night
    They all glow
    With the vibrations of love
But she is tired of living
    And afraid of dying
    If her loved ones
    Would ever visit
    They would notice
    She’s looking at the world
    Behind terror eyes

    A young soldier sits
    Half a world away
    From his loved ones
    Caught in a nightmare
    That won’t go away
    Constantly thinking
How did it turn out this way
    Cold and miserable
    Hope is his only companion
While the ones who sent him
    Are at home
    Cleaning their conscience
    Dining in leisure
    Sleeping
    In a comfortable bed
    Meanwhile, the soldier stays busy
    Wiping the dust
    Out of his
    Terror eyes

    A six-year-old boy
    Has traveled down
    To the market
    Picking up products
    That his mother desires
    His brothers and sisters
    Wanted to follow
    He convinced them
    To stay behind
    As he nears
    His home
He hears a rumble like thunder
    Looks straight ahead
To see his home blown away
Gazes up as the planes disappear
    With a brand-new pair
    Of terror eyes

    If you want to try
And fight a war on terror
    There’s something real important
    You need to realize
    No matter where it is
    On this beautiful planet
    You have to stop creating
    Terror eyes

  • 96thdayofrage, I'm sorry I disagree and hope others who read it, understand we are a country that supports the 'Rule of Law'! I wouldn't agree with anyone doing physical harm to George W., or Dick Cheney.

I want to see 'The Rule of Law' utilized to the 'full extent of the law'. George W. and Dick Cheney are the 'Leaders' of the United States. We are the people of the United States. Our Constitution was written for 'We The People'.

'We The People' need to use our voices to demand accountability. We need to invite other people to join us. We need to find ways to inform people with 'News They Can Use'.

Comments that speak of doing physical harm to our President and V.P. will not help us draw in people who are staying on the side lines. It will scare them, they will be afraid we are all supporting such actions. Ya know, guilt by association. I disassociate myself from such comments.

Sorry, I know you really didn't mean it. But, people read it. We need to attract, not distract others who have opions just waiting to be expressed.

Revelations, thanks for your comment. I am passing it along. 'Terror Eyes'! Sad!

  • I sincerely hope that the rest of the world understands that this idiot speaks for only 1/3 of this country and for only 1/2 of it when he was elected. I know we only have about 8 more months of this megalomaniac but can we please just impeach him and Dick already? PLEASE?!

If you don't back terrorism then you can't support the nation that calls itself "Israel".

So, do I. Still, I'd like to ductape the little idiots lips so they never move, and euthanize whoever is REALLY running this Nation into the ground. Admit it, this feckless pinhead is too stupid to tie his own shoes, so there is no way in hell he can be held accountable for this elaborate ruse that has made us martial state. Folks sitting on the sidelines are the parents whose kids are dying as a result of this ruse. They too want to kill this rascal and his cronies, his laws be damned.

Bush wasn't elected. Lawless clowns appointed him twice to facilitate and perpetrate this atrocious shredding of the Constitution and the redaction of the Bill of Rights. So spare me your pious sanctimony. I and hundreds of others would like to see the whole lot of these military industrial fascist corporatists lined up and cut down with AK47s.

  • I like israel too. I'm not for war this can't be good for any one involved. The efforts of this country should be peace maker, there has been nothing worst then this war in the middle east at this time. The US takes part in a war that has strain the economy, it is in the worst condition then in any other time in the history of this country for the poor and disappearing middle class the cost of living across the broad is out of control.
