Wow, though I have to admit that I did not know what happened in 1938/39, I will admit that I would not try to defend someone making a reference without first learning about the events.

What I don't understand is that Kevin looks to be quite a bit younger, and that usually means possessing less knowledge about recent history than ones elders, and he didn't think to actually take 10 minutes to bone up on his WW2 history. That is either arrogance, idiocy or both.

I'll admit I only knew the quote from Chamberlain, "I believe I have achieved piece. Peace for our time. Peace with hounour" and that the treaty didn't do anything to stop Germany's militaristic advancemants, or penalize them for violations of the treaty of Versailles. That being said I knew that and would have said that. Rather than babble on and had I known that I was about to be interviewed on the subject I certainly would have looked it up!

Chamberlain, essentially, delayed Hitler long enough to allow the Britts to build up their armed forces. Otherwise, if Hitler had pounced on England earlier they would not have been prepared and would have taken a merciless beating...so the diplomacy was a ploy to buy time...
