Some British army weapons are finding their way into the hands of criminal gangs - and a former Royal Military Police investigator believes they may be ill-equipped to stop it.
He claims to have bought hundreds of guns to hire out to his associates mainly in manchester for use in serious crime, and they would often come from an unlikely source - the armed forces.

So I've never watched the UK news when they recover a weapon and identify it as ex`Military.
Is there no way of knowing the origin of the weapon ?
I find it very hard to believe that when a weapons expert examines the firearm that they cannot say if it was service issue or not. Is this the case ?
If that is the case then the authorities and the press must be holding this information back. -
They should be able to tell, because the government only issues certain guns to the military, right? Aren't they like, numbered or something? I don't know, I'm not a gun fanatic, but you would think they would try to keep tabs on the guns they're issuing out to service members.
