He has already appeared in Notes On A Scandal and is now making his second blockbuster movie.
Like all expectant parents, we couldn't wait to meet our first-born. All the scans had been fine, and we had no reason to suspect any problems.
And initially, Max's birth passed without a hitch - it was quick, and not even that painful.
But as soon as he was delivered a hush settled over the room. Max was strangely quiet; there was no loud wail to signal his entry into the world.
The midwife passed him to me, and as I looked at his beautiful face I was overcome with a terrible feeling. "Does he have Down's syndrome?"
The question was redundant, because I was absolutely certain he did: it was something about the almond shape of his eyes....................................................
