CNN reports that the aftershock has triggered landslides, blocked roads, knocked out phone lines as well as burying vehicles, all which will hamper the already critically needed aid relief.
The official death toll has been reported by Chinese state media as 22,069 but fears are mounting that this could see a dramatic increase following today's aftershock.

This is exactly what they didn't need. It must be awful to have begun those difficult steps to sorting everything out and then be hit by this.

Apparently the earthquakes have caused the land to shift as much as 13 metres. That is insane! And I was watching the news earlier on Channel 4 and they said that 5 million people have lost their homes. Imagine the size of the town you are sitting in right now. What percentage of people is that? I'm in London. That's almost 3/4 of the entire city, homeless after a few minutes... devastating.

Wow! I never though of it in those terms. It is so so sad.

Here's a link to a story about the 5 million homeless.
