This is an excellent review - I own one and agree with everything you say - the cool is buying digital - the pain is a low tech email/digital device - tires to be too analog
and no POWERPOINT with the Kindle

totally enjoyed the dead-pan review. loved the book with wires comparison. lol. and the idea of the kindle is very very appealing to the likes of me. I LOVE to read. but for now for me the kindle is too expensive. but oh how I long for one--slim, convenient, easy to read from, quick book purchases...good to go. great idea. save all those trees...forests and forests of trees that newspapers alone are responsible for cutting down. success to kindle. (quick success so the price will come down so I can buy one)
it would be nice if more people read. sad that reading is going in the wrong direction. there's so much to learn by reading good books! reading also helps our critical thinking skills and wow is THAT important in today's media-controlled sound bite world!!!

This a cool review and it was funny but reading does not suck! You can find tons of cool things in books that you just can't find on TV or in music... download some ebooks and broaden your horizons!!

the only problem with this and other competitors such as the model made by sony is that its still first gen equipment, i'm gonna wait till the 2nd gen so that they work out some of the bugs.

Great except one point: it doesn't look good at all. It's the clumsiest device I could imagine today or tomorrow. Even perhaps yesterday.

I could see this being useful for long trips, but agree on waiting for the bugs to be worked out. I always buy 2nd or 3rd gen just to be safe.

Although I agree with you guys that 2nd or 3rd generation is often better, after playing around with it, I must admit -- the Kindle is really, really cool. I was actually upset that I had to send it back. I really wish Amazon had let me keep it. Amazon, if you're reading this: Send me another one!!! I miss my Kindle!!!
