WCOM is a community radio station run by volunteers in Carrboro, NC. The LPFM program is a response to the corporate take-over of radio and exists to give voices to the communities which used to populate the airwaves. WCOM does just that, not only giving a voice to those who don't have one, but providing a model for an LPFM effort that delivers something unique and ever important to the Carrboro community.

    i am volunteer programmer for
    a community radio station here in Visalia, Ca.
    but grew up on corporate sounds not having a clue about the artful, cultural and conscious music that
    has always been slept on or muted.
