If you can't get a laugh from telling a "someone is going to shoot Barack Obama" joke in a talk at the NRA then your delivery needs work, we say.

  • What on Earth was he thinking?
    derk
  • i think he either had a McCaine like senior moment, or it was just spontaneous, you know, when you say something w/o thinking, especially in a social situation, and then think, "what did i just say"?

but Huckabee is a stiff who don't believe in evolution, so f*ck off Huckadork.
  • Could someone report the text of what he said?? I'm at a place where I can't show videos, so would appreciate knowing wtf this is about...

    Thanks!

  • This is why this brainless dimwit is finished politically. It's obvious he wasn't thinking at all.
  • Thanks, cosmo -- OMG -- and to say it to the NRA, of all people -- and even they didn't laugh...

  • Of all the things he could have said......
  • watch this comment being used here, here and here
And here I thought Huckabee was a nice guy. Well, he's just made his debut in the JACKASS column. :-)

  • Hes to religious for me.

  • @Hawkmang - exactly how I feel. Few republicans I like, but I thought he was o.k.

2nd thing - sounds like some kind of eerie foreshadowing. Scary.

  • Don't improv, Mike.

  • This is not the time to have a severe brain fart, Mike.
You're not running anymore, so...SHUT UP!

  • Un-be-lieveable pandering dirt-bag. If I were to make a joke about someone pointing a gun at a presidential candidate on the national press, it would end with the SS at my door!

  • US politics is starting to look like a highschool backyard.
    Juas
  • Why would he even joke about that ?
    stanman48
  • stupid-ass thing to say. really stupid.

  • Wow, don't think that's what Jesus would do
  • What Gov. Huckabee said was this:

"That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he's getting ready to speak," Huckabee said. "Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor."

There was no suggestion, insinuation or implication that someone should shoot Obama.

Why is it that in liberal land ANYTHING said about a liberal figure is immediately attacked and the speaker crucified but the reverse is not only tolerated but encouraged? Liberal figures have done this with republican or conservatives before but I hear no outrage from the left on this. Why does it seem that intellectual honesty is such a casualty in politics?
Bush gives a speech in front of the Knesset and somehow it becomes an indictment primarily of Obama. No one is named but the indictment is assumed. Obama defends himself from an attack that never happened. Now this. Why the knee jerk reactions when it comes to Obama? Is he so fragile that he can't withstand ANY attention other than what his campaign approves of. Possibility. He won't even go on Fox News. Mark Levin offered 5k to any charity not working against the interest of the U.S. if Obama would debate him on the air. Bet Hussein doesn't go for it.
Frankly I think if one sees this as a threat on Husseins life or a suggestion to take it they need to change their meds. Paranoia is not an admirable trait and can be treated.
I think this was a comment on Husseins feelings about guns in general. He does seem more than a little phobic on that topic.
I believe Sigmund Freud had a comment about weapons. It went thus, “A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity”. Certainly Husseins record on guns would lend credence to Huckabees statement and calls into question, like we need another reason NOT to support this person, whether we want someone in the white house with a "retarded sexual and emotional maturity".
I thought it was pretty funny but then, the only thing I really have against Huckabee is that he is from Arkansas (haven't examined the fair tax enough to comment on that yet). Too much bad baggage from that state.

  • Mike Huckabee needs to apologize to Barack Obama on National television. He thinks that he can talk that way because, behind close doors there's a vast number of people in America that would rather see Barack Obama dead before having to see him everyday in the Oval office. People have the audacity think that we are suppose to be that blind and say racism really doesn't exist anymore in this country.African Americans get accused of playing the race card when we complain about stuff like this. You say that he really didn't mean it like that .People on the internet make comments about Obama that they wouldn't make about any other candidate in the race.Bill O'Reily makes jokes about lynching his wife and nothings done. Only BIGOTS talk like that and only BIGOTS defend this kind of comments and only Bigots remain silent.Bullshit ! You're really ignorant to think that we don't know any better.

  • Oh please, who else could any of the republicans comments in this political climate be directed toward except the (presumptive) nominee for the democratic party. ps paratus, I appreciate your honesty, but to bring up his f'in middle name? wow, just what this country needs, more fear mongering. "He won't even go on fox news." Could it be because the only things they've only brought up about him is every single insignificant negative thing about his life, including smoking, which by the way should bring him closer to those "blue collar voters" in middle america? I personally hope you reflect on your posting in November, when the dems wipe this scourge of republican waste and political bs off of the face of what America should be. Good day!
  • I smell conspiracy.
    merasyad
  • are you kidding me - this is all out racist/evil - embarrssing!
    nwintroub
  • I'm down with merasyad, I smell conspiracy too. This shit is wild! Can you really joke about something that is not even that much of a stretch?

  • So, it's okay to profile voters on race and income and age, and argue whether America is more racist or sexist in predicting a nominee, but acknowledging just how dark the American psyche can be is a little too far? Unfortunately it's more sad than funny. Oh, well, cheers to anyone who can still laugh at themselves! I intend to vote for Obama, but I'll be paying very close attention to who fills his Vice President slot.

  • What would Jesus do Mike???? What would Jesus do????

  • If a so called " Man of God " thinks that it is ok to joke about pointing a GUN at a man runing running for President, then I must question what kind of God he is listening to ? I don’t care if he is talking about an Asian, Black, White, or any other type of male.
    * It is just wrong ! *

  • This is serious. Couldn't this be taken to court? It sounds like a veiled threat.
  • he better hopes nothing happens to obama.

  • This is why idiots like Huckabee and Romney aren't ever going to be president. Mike is probly jealous he isn't in the race anymore. and obviously he doesn't understand the importance of the now, in a historical context. That Barack Obama has uplifted this country like no person has since the '60s, if some phsycopath takes a shot at Obama there will be riots on the streets in American cities.
    NickLip
  • Just a shot at Obama's comment about "clinging to guns". Look at the audience, Mike's not running for anything, he's playing to the crowd. But of course you can't mention The Great Obama's name without the groupies throwing a fit.

  • nice one dummy!
    xenomode
  • xenomode-ha! shut up johnA, lol
    pirho338
  • Oh that's funny!!!!! HA-HA-HA! Rolling on the floor laughing! Hilarious!

And if you really believe that I think it's funny, then I have a foreign war to sell you.

I'm just wondering... did Huckabee also think the 2006 film "Death of a President" to be funny?

  • From Huckabee to Huckabeen. Since your run is now officially over, you can start walking back to whatever rock you crawled out from under. I always find it so refreshing when unscrupulous politicians end their own political careers, without any provocation, other than just opening their mouths in front of a microphone for the world to hear how they really feel.

The repulsive & repugnant Republicans still haven't figured out that they can't deviate from any script placed in front of them or they'll inevitably stick both feet in their mouths every time. And I thought it couldn't get any worse than the "Awesome Speech" comment by the Shrub to the Pope after he recently spoke at the White House.

  • He paused before adding the bad punchline. This means that he actually thought it over. That's right. He thought it over and still said it.
    Foolish.

  • can we say "thank god at least he won't be our next prez!"...fight stupid govt., go vote.
  • I'll admit...I was funny, but not because of the joke itself. It made me laugh, just watching Huckabee make a complete fool of himself. Also, I laughed when only one person in his audience laughed. That was just priceless.
