  • People are always looking for the root cause of these shootings, as if there is a fundamental underlying cause to the phenomena.

Aren't these horrible acts of violence are just isolated incidents inevitable in nation of 305 million people allowed to own weapons.

Maybe there is a correlation between a country who creates unjustified violence abroad, and the unexplained violence that occurs domestically.

  • I still belive religion is the deadliest thing in this world, that is the main motivation in accidents like these. Not saying religion is bad, but the extremist do what they do, take things to the extreme.

  • I always wonder why an all powerful, almighty, infallible super being would allow this behavior in his supposed house?

  • Good to hear that an off duty officer tackled the man. I guess he was man enough to not use his gun or probably didn't have his gun with him.

  • Don't blame Jesus for Christianity. This religion does not represent his teachings at all. It promotes sexism ,selfishness, greed, insecurity and hatred of anybody who is not Christian. Christians are never wrong.

  • Hey Keithponder. Although i dont practice any religion and believe the world would be better without it, the elders in my family are members of the salvation army and have been doing nothing but helping people all over the world in the name of Christianity. They're so PC that they refuse to acknowledge the black crime which is rampant in any/all cities of North America, because of their Christian belief that 'all men are created equal'.
You should take a morality reality check. MLK was a terrorist in his own right, no saint there Mon.

  • I blame a system that uses its citizens as Trash Receptacles for their bad food and bad drugs for big profit.
US has a lack of ethics or supervision in the Sham of an FDA
...and drug company CEO's are raking in the cash and loving Bush.
An average person in the USA is undernourished ...needs basic Preventive Care...probably a few key supplements....Omega 3
..This Preventive Treatment is readily available and encouraged in other countries.

Also US people commonly have a multitude of drug interactions.
Antidepressants..cold allergy medications ..cholesterol..Viagra.see my favorite site http://askapatient.com for some of the side effects if you want your hair to stand on end...then multiply those by 2...3..5..or more.

(.many of them are for made up sicknesses like Restless Leg Syndrome..otherwise called please take me for a walk you lazy person..)

On top of the regular depression and life cycle problems we all go through.

We are being poisoned by this sham "government."

  • Yes Carolyn, plenty of scams going on in the west. The people have to snap out of their lazy-trance they're in, turn the tv off and get involved with something in the community. You mentioned antidepressants, cold allergy, and viagra. I wouldn't take any of that, and if my Doctor recommended it i'd get another Doctor.

  • phillyharper it is not an, "isolated incidents inevitable in nation of 305 million people allowed to own weapons". You erroneously blame the tool for the act. It is an act of a person, nothing more. There will al ways be irresponsible, evil people. Firearm ownership has nothing to do with it. Why don't we look at the shooter instead of the gun. Also, we are not "allowed" to own weapons. The right is inherent in our country.

  • You guys are wondering why this shit happen? Really? A country where media meets entertainment. A country where committing a tragic act gets you the attention of millions, possibly billions. They (perpetrators of these violent acts) want their message heard, but either the cops or the community demand that their (the killers) voices be silenced because they don't deserve their message to be heard. And what is that message? That in a country that says it has all the answers, there are millions lost. Lost to a number of different things that affect people differently.

Some are lost to mental illness and the lack of understanding from the community and effective (not overmedicating) treatment of their illness. Or Perhaps the habitual abuse suffered at the hands of someone they trusted. Or feeling betrayed by not being able to satisfy their need to know "why", whatever it may be about. Or maybe it's just someone who felt they needed to seek justice for something done to them.

I am in no way saying they are right for what they do, in fact the opposite. They are directly responsible for what they do. However there has to be correlating factors in all these violent acts. If there were no connection but one, it would be they must all be trying to convey their message to us by committing these tragic acts. We shouldn't give their acts a voice by hearing their message. We should hear their message for clues on how we can prevent this
"phenomenon" from becoming an everyday thing.

There are alot of components to it. There's the fact we don't treat life as precious as it should be treated. We lose sight of what is really important in life. We overwork, overstress, overcomplicate things. We are close minded, we allow religion to rule our thoughts and minds. The drug war is not an effective one, in fact it perpetuates the problems and ills of society in the guise of ending it. Alot of social ills at the hands of corporations, such as pharmaceutical companies. It isn't a coincidence many of the people committing these acts were on prescribed medication for a while before. The list goes on and on and on. Until we see this is all connnected and we have to nip it in the bud, we will be seeing more and more of this.

  • Maybe he didn't like religion. If so I agree. The action he took because of this belief I don't condone, but religion has taken more then it's fair share of innocent lives.

  • i can't remember the specific case , but a few years ago a "gun-man" entered a church , and yelled out "who wants to stand up and die for jesus ?! " - one teenage guy stood up and said "i do ! " - and his enthusiasm was rewarded with a .40 bullet to the head . as i recall , there were 3 more who didn't stand up , and they too were shot , for their conspicuous indifference to the cause .
