"It's shocking to me that the U.S. government has not figured out a way to keep children out of adult prisons. It's outrageous, and it is not making us any safer, I can say that about Afghanistan from personal experience," Tina M. Foster, the executive director of the International Justice Network, said Sunday.

Bush has gone over the limits of several international treaties, laws as well as USA laws. In my opinion, there should be a special super max prison built for this outrageous administration, held there until justice is fairly served by the people and for the people as well as for the people of the world.

  • What more needs to come to light to see that this criminal administration be charged for war crimes?????

  • Maybe a sex scandal needs to be revealed ;)

  • Those kids are our future problems. Thanks for the new breed of terrorists Mr. Bush.

  • If... this is true. There must be a good reason for imprisoning these poor young people. Our enemy indocrinates children to want to kill us at an early age and use children as bombers and human shields. Our treatment of people who are dangerous to our troops is way more humane than the treatment of children by our enemies.

BTW Tina, can you guarantee it doesn't make us safer? Maybe they can be released into your neighborhood. Already, a man we released from Guantanamo blew himself and 7 others up in Iraq.
  • It’s understandable that something should be done with children who plant IEDs and attack our forces, but placing them in adult prisons is only delaying the problem. Education could be a better solution, but once hatred is instilled in someone it is hard to remove it.

When these kids get out of prison, they probably will join a terrorist group to get revenge on America for putting them in prison. They are the future terrorists.
  • We as a country must join the world court for reasons just like this so that our officials can be held responsible for there actions.

  • Those children have had to become adults very quickly. They live in the middle of constant war and chaos. Now, the people who claim to be protecting them, are imprisoning them. I'm sure the life experiences of those children, make them seem more adult-like than most of our troops.

You make a good point! Children can easily be manipulated and they could have done some heinous acts; however, their minds are still much more malleable than those of adults. It would serve them more to be placed in different prisons; however, with most likely no special guards or counselors in Iraq/Afganistan for theses children, they will just get out of prison and be the same as before. Maybe even more angry!

And to the point of imprisoning minors/children. I do not agree with it but at certain times it is required; however, you can't just place them anywhere. There should be special prisons. Halliburton could have spared a dime to build one, especially after charging the government $45 for a 6-pack of Coke ( http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/11/4/18128/5469 )

  • this is fuel for a never ending war. to put kids in PRISON is atrocious. what it the attitude? "they're not American so we can treat them like animals..." did anyone ever stop to think that treatment like this of young CHILDREN is what sparks the hatred of Americans? i feel disgusting just hearing about this.

  • I see why we have terrorists!

  • It just adds to the sickening war crimes this administration has committed. Any other leader doing this would have us on their back like a fly on honey and another war. Why are they allowed to get away with all this unlawful, immoral actions HERE & abroad?????

  • Think of it this way, thats 500 kids that have not had the opportunity to strap themselves with bombs and attack our troops. That is the only positive about this.

Other then that, this is over the edge, why are they in the prison. They could be sodomized, beat, and other horrific things.

  • It almost seems like a lose lose situation for these children. They suffer either way. Starve to death or be tortured or be murdered by the war or be imprisoned. The prison might be a better situation if you really think about it. I doubt every prisoner there is a bloodthirsty terrorist ready to kill their own. I STRONGLY AGREE about a different institution away from the adults for these children and I do agree on the education of these children. These poor children are taught to hate and to kill and we have to stop them in the most humane manner. Either prison or the desert jungle.

  • What else is new?
  • I think its a bunch of crap that these kids are in prison, They should be put somewhere so they could get couseling instead of put in a prison with adult men,
I am sure that if they survive prison they will get out and be more aggressive , Chidren learn what they live.

  • And you call the Democrats Nazi Appeasers-lite. But you imprison innocent children just like the Nazi's did in concentration camps. I cant wait for Obama's Attorney General to come after their asses if they dont get impeached first.

  • Being put in a cage, with no means of escape or freedom of choice, i.e., will I go to the store or maybe I'll go to visit a friend or whatever...is not good for a young impressionable mind...the example set and the message sent to the rest of humanity only supports what the terrorists stand for...eliminating the Infadel. In this case, Bush Is very much making us look like the infadel. The kids won't be going home to tell everyone how wonderful it is to be held in a CAGE, and probably held down while being abused.

What are the imbeciles, we wish we could call leaders, thinking...evidently, there is no fore thought just the same old...same old...too busy thinking about the money to be made...

"Peace wil not come until the last disparaged dissident has come up from underground..." ,God, to the inhabitants of this planet.

  • Just another example of the regime we live in today. It's riduculous that nothing has been DONE to these people. Not only have they been guilty of war crimes, they have been hiding much information from its nation about its own nation's destination. Hopefully this ends with the next president...I think it's just the system we live in.

  • I am not surprised. Bush executed a retarded man in Texas after all.
    uroborus8
  • That is all very true, Bren...and LOVE begets PEACE...
    PlatoTacius
  • your right uroborus. he did do that to a retarded man. How cruel is that..Nothing Bush does is no surprise to me anymore.. he is just an oil thirsty piece of crap in my book and needs to be impeached..

  • I'm wondering if the American is sort of shocked into numbness. It seems like no matter what comes out about the Bush administration, nothing motivates people to actually ask for impeachment. But still, we keep hearing about this stuff.
  • It looks like either the Hague or the UN are indeed going to have to pull this Administration in on war crimes and crimes against humanity, if Congress doesn't have the cajones to do it.
  • Poor kids. Bush continues to urge the Middle East to expand human rights, but we violate them as well.
  • Using the word children is hyperbolic.
"Children" makes me think of kids under the age of 12.
I don't agree with keeping teenagers in prison, but they shouldn't be called "children". It isn't honest.

  • This is disgraceful! I know a phrase I'm about to use is overused,,....but time and time again, I am given reason upon reason why the only bush I should trust, is my own.
    EbahDyke
  • Bush is terrible...but I'm guessing these kids are no angles to end up in jail in the first place...
    Meaghan1126
  • This is all too reminiscent of a Shakespeare tragedy. King George must be stopped...
  • I must disagree with ppl just going with the flow and denouncing bush for every little fuckin thing...

wealready know that chil soldiers are frickin awesome as far as bam bam bam there goes an american..... theyre retarded little idiots that dont know better.. .true..... but they have guns and theyre stubborn and determined as hell and will kill americans....
i say rather than shoot them down with machine guns.... hold them in prison for awhile.... i would think thats almost honorable......

same thing in south africa... child soldiers are notorious for killing Military personnel...

  • Yes it is sad, however it must be considered that these "children" in Iraq/Afghanistan prisons are not like those in the Common Law prisons. There have not been imprisoned because they lifted a pack of baseball cards or jacked a car... they are there because they represent a danger to the blokes in the Armed Forces serving in the said countries.

  • Putting kids in detention camps... way to win the peoples support guys.
  • Despicable!
    derk
  • Yes, they may not be angels, but nobody said to let them out, just put them in a juvenile environment... the idea, while they're still young is to impress upon them that there is a better way...teach them the democratic way...I guess that would just be too much trouble....not enough in the budget...let them fall through the cracks...they're just kids anyway...

They along with all the other kids are the future...

In truth they probably see through Bush's fiasco...
now we got a problem...what to do with them..?

  • for good reason, those little fuckers like to blow themselves up in supermarkets...
    tribe10
  • ...they like to blow themselves up in supermarkets...

    Thanks.

I would never have imagined that kids liked to blow themselves up anyplace.

  • what if they were your children ., How would you feel then. i sure would rather try to help these children , then see them locked away, and forgotten..
    Bren589
  • I am no George Bush fan and yes if these are children then this story is moving...but seriously if we want to talk about children in jail lets start with that mildly LARGE crime problem that we have with youth in America....I think I've seen my fair share of children as young as 9 being tried as an adult in this country...so yes its sad that these kids are in jails but I don't know the full story and we have plenty of kids in jails right here in America to feel sorry for...
    Meaghan1126
  • damn straight meaghan

and PLatotacius america cannot.... i repeat cannot educate those little kids.. becuz they're already brainwashed to the point where psych would tkae years to stabilize them...

and while thats going on,... america is a bitch to middle eastern people ,,,,,.. these kids that are taught to hate america will not want to reform.....

    they just dont,... srry...
