In a move that surprised no one, Japan has embraced the international symbol of cute for millions of young girls and women who love the color pink as the official tourism ambassador of Japan. The country is banking on an influx of tourists seeking out exclusive toasters and cell phone charms that can only be found in Japan or your local Sanrio Station.

When reached for comment, Hello Kitty, flanked by her business partners Keroppi Hasunoue and Badtz-Maru said, "..." and finished her rousing acceptance speech with a peace sign and an audible " =^.^= "

Unconfirmed reports are saying the former tourism ambassador, the blue robo-cat Doraemon, is on suicide watch.
