thats not right isnt that going against his rights, since it doesn't specify anywhere in any document, that a felon can't vote

Felons have rights too! Drug convictions are death sentences, when you have not committed murder. Felons are not given a FAIR Chance in today's society because of Bias Americans who are unwillingly give them a 2nd Chance to REBUILD THEIR LIVES TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS. Thanks for Sharing your Story.
God Bless You, and remember a change is going to come, don't give up because didn't bring you this far to leave you know, keep this in mind always!

No, it's true. The rules differ state by state. In some states, ex-felons can vote, in some they can vote but they have to go through a lengthy bureaucratic process in order to do so, and in many, felons can NEVER vote again. In many other countries, especially in Europe, voting for ALL CITIZENS is mandatory, and poll workers actually travel to prisons to make sure that prisoners vote.

Despite Mitima's counter-intuitive political views (McCain has no interest in reforming drug laws or granting voting rights to ex-felons) and gender stereotyping (2:50), this was an interesting interview and I liked listening to him. I think this piece could turn into something powerful if you captured a bit more of Mitima's day-to-day life and got more diverse footage. You might also consider interviewing a local politician and/or prison warden about voting rights for ex-felons. Just mix things up a little more so it's not one shot of him sitting there talking. This is a really important issue, and Elise raises a great point about how ex-felons in many countries in Europe are allowed to vote even while they are IN prison. Why aren't we considering that type of system in this country? There's a lot of potential in this issue.
Here's another good article I came across.

Or perhaps he sold some to the Bush brothers too huh?...I think you should LISTEN to Mitima a little better. He said "He doesn't want Obama."
