Its not like abstinence isn't a choice. Not every one in this morally bankrupted country is a sexual monster. I respect a woman who abstains far greater then the new entry on the weekly conquest list.

I feel like we're just banging our heads up against the wall here with these culture wars. It's clear from listening to both sides that we are actually arguing for many of the same outcomes: reducing disease and unwanted pregnancies (often ending in abortion).

What cracks me up about this is I view it as bordering between influencing your children and making their decisions for them. To have sex (unless it is rape, which is a very bad thing) is a choice. Your child will at some point make that choice. Hopefully your child will be smart about it, maybe wait until marriage, maybe not. If not, then hopefully he/she will wear a condom.

Anyhow, teaching abstinence is a good thing to teach as an option; however, just teaching abstinence is freakin' retarded. Kids do rebellious things, and to think that your kid will adhere to abstinence because you approve of it is just plain stupid. Your kids should know that abstinence until their adult years is a better choice, but they should also know how to safely have sex in the instance that teenage hormones override that abstinence pledge that they might have taken. Remember, a horny teenager is not a stupid teenager, it is just a teenager that might give into his/her urges and at that point he/she should know how to do so in a manner that is as safe as possible.

Of course, just teaching abstinence (whatever you mean by that ) is not enough by itself. Human beings have emotion, intellect and will. We have a body and a spirit.

In any case, it starts with the parent life example. Empty words and latex are like a russian roulette game.

It is the same thing with loosing weight, drinking, drug use, homosexuality, pornography etc...there is more to it.

Yes I know that teenagers have free will. The condom nation culture is a disaster. Craziness is hoping for change while doing the same thing.

I think it's good that at least they have a father that cares enough to encourgage them with their kids decision. (Most dads just nod and say "yeah that's great.." and continue what their doing..)
I think most of us can agree it looks corny, but what ever. If it's something the kid is forced into well then that's a different story entirely.
But if you want to save it till marriage...then go for it.
