Stanford University researchers have developed an artificial cornea, which may enable the blind to once again see the light of day.

Although the cornea is yet to be tested on humans, studies performed on animals have shown promising results. The findings will be published in the June issue of ACS' Biotechnology Progress journal.

According to researcher Curtis W. Frank, the implantable polymer-based cornea, similar to human donor corneas, is made of two interwoven polymer gels that resemble the material used in soft contact lenses

  • That's amazing!

Also, my cousin raised this question the other day: What does a blind person's dreams look like? Do they dream in color without realizing it?

  • That's absolutely amazing. Both of my grandparents that I live with are blind. My grandfather owns a bike shop and is completely blind. It's hard to imagine that they are finally coming up with something that can repair things like that.

Both of my grandparents could at one time see, so they can identify colors. My grandmother has always been at least 85% blind and colorblind though, but she can identify colors through the tint of gray.
I don't know about people who have been completely blind their whole life. It's hard to tell.

  • It is astonishing what modern medicine can perform, now only if they can cure the completely blind and HIV/AIDS.
