  • I loved Bill Nye as a kid. He made me feel like I could be a scientist or at least understand well enough to get along and it never felt boring. He made science cool. Thanks for clipping this.

  • Why can't we get rid of or recycle much easier those pesky plastic bags?
  • Michael Pollan rocks, and he makes a very valid point--if you value life at all 'bothering' is the most important thing...

Plastic bags are easy--reusable totes. Lots of simple cheap things you can do around your home really will make a difference, and if we expect other developing nations (like China) to realize certain ecological limits, we had best set the example since its our lifestyle they want...

  • I watched this real interesting program on Science HD and it was about how they (scientists in the field) are already developing technology that can completely zap waste into nothingness. And also another method that turns waste into fuel and energy. It was really interesting.

I personally have started an organization, Be Green Be Healthy. We are currently organizing a fair that will be (hopefully) held at some local college campuses. We want to pass along info that maybe not everyone really has any idea about. We are also getting as many "green" companies and products to showcase at the fair including alternative transportation like scooters/electric bikes, water vending machines (to eliminate the need for water bottles),organic foods, soy products, etc.

Maybe I'll post a webcam video of it or do a piece on it. I think it will be a badass fair. And we plan to hand out handbooks with all the info about all the products and information, such as "green" tips and lifestyle changes that can be made. So instead of handing out fliers or information on paper (that they will end up throwing), we are going to make an actual handbook for them, so it's something they can keep and reference at anytime.

  • being green is such the topic, when everytime I hear discussions saddens me that places where Ive live in, in the past, don't even have any recycling programs what so ever. It all end up in the same place. Very sad.

"I get up around 6:30 a.m. I sip a cup of coffee made on a timer. It’s always shade-grown organic coffee. I grind the beans. Then I go to the studio and film my new show, “Stuff Happens,” which will be on in the fall on Discovery’s Planet Green channel."

  • with the plastic bags, My grandma showed me how to cut them up and crochet them together to make a bag mat, other possibilities are making them into a tote bag, or just cut out their use all together like I did. I just collect bags from family, and neighbors.
