Pro-Lifers want to redefine birth control as abortion.
On June 7th, the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that gave married people the right to use contraception, the American Life League, along with Pro-Life Wisconsin and Pharmacists for Life International Associate groups want you to join them in protesting in front of facilities that distribute birth control products.

No, the pill prevents conception. There is a difference.

Yeah that's where the logic of these fundamentalists kinda falls apart...

Clearly abortion is defined as preventing an embryo from maturing. With the pill it prevents the egg from becoming fertilized. Add two and two together, obviously the pill isn't defined as abortion.

Now the pill could be defined as ungodlike by many right wing religious fanatics, since you know...it's not natural. But that definably isn't abortion by any means.

What will these people think of next? I would like to think of myself as respectful and open minded , but I really just do not understand this. Are you kidding me? I don't understand why people are against contraception... and it's not abortion to protect yourself from pregnancy or STD's . THIS Strike s dumb.
-
This is because pro-life people don't actually care about fetuses.
The "pro-life" movement is actually an anti-sexuality movement. They're the same people behind abstinence, the same people behind anti-gay sentiments and I am fucking tired of them. -
Only the right wing Christians will follow this line of thinking - which means they'll breed more, have more kids, so they have more power and money and keep control of the good old US of A.
-
So, does this mean that abstinence or having sex while you are not fertile should also be considered abortion too? I mean, think of all of the countless babies that those 14 y/o girls could be pumping out (when they are not on the polygamist compound or having random teenage sex). Think of all of those almost embryos that could mature into overpopulation. Lovely. Maybe I should start wearing an ankle length denim skirt, grow my hair down to there, and home school my overwhelming number of offspring.

This is absolutely ridiculous.
First of all, birth control not only prevents pregnancy, but regularizes the menstrual cycle and hormones. There are many reasons young women take birth control.
Secondly, whoever believes the 'Pill Kills' apparently doesn't realize how birth control works.
This is like taking the condom away from the public. Safe? I think not. If they can say the Pill is a form of abortion, they might as well say other forms of contraception are also. In result, what would happen to our society if contraceptives were banned? How many unwanted children would be abused, neglected, or illegally aborted?
I could write on this subject for hours. I'm clearly "Pro-Choice."-

Skeet likens pro-lifers to lunatics. But good for them for standing up for something that they believe in.

There are some real nut jobs out there i swear! That is what this world needs, no more contraceptives, more over population and with water shortages and the cost of food sky rocketing, this is a GREAT idea, (sarcasm) These people really need to pull there heads out of each others asses and realize that birth control is a good thing and that more people should pratice it!

This is a very disturbing trend taking place across America. Religion is being used to deny people their medical needs and their civil rights.
This country was founded on freedom of religion and now the religious right is using religion to deny others their American rights. Just like freedom of religion is protected, we need to protect freedom FROM religion.
I don't think our forefathers meant for religion to be used this way. If something conflicts with your religious beliefs, then don't do it, but you cannot force others to live by your religion. I guess this gives the term "religious persecution" a whole new meaning, in that the religious are now persecuting everyone else.
