A UC Berkeley professor, and former California State Assemblymember, once told me that one of his biggest pet peeves about state government was that every time the budgeting process begins they start with what was in the previous budget. Why not start from scratch and look at the current needs of the people?

awesome, blank slate, then prioritize the State budget....but who is prioritizing? therein lies the problem...I start with health and education, and go from there....others????
I think he might get to other students and get some on the path to questioning/thinking on this critical issue more than the Al Gore video, who might appeal more to a totally different group...Both are awesom, authentic, real is the impression I get from both.-
