I just wanted to remind people where Barack comes from. Working class normal good people. I love the picture of him playing with his grandfather.

  • YES!! I think this is something very important to highlight, not only to show people that he is indeed American (and not a fundamentalist muslim spy as some crackpots would have you believe) but to remind people that his grandfather did indeed raise him! I didnt know that he had fought in WWII

  • Nice shot. Thanks for posting. But I'm sure the haters will jump on and try to spin this into something negative...after all, he isn't wearing a flag pin in the shot.

  • I love this. Thanks for posting.

  • It was intended to show a the family he came from, that he was raised by people that are like everyone else. It reminded me of any other little boy playing with their dad, grandad. He was just a cute normal kid.
  • ...and now he is a very well educated, well respected statesman. Unfortunately, I agree with krag...the right-wing spin doctors will attempt to grind him into liberalburger...they can only have a grampy mcsamy clause in the whitehouse.... otherwise, it would mean the end of their pathetic reindeer games...

    Good one, Marilynn...

  • I don't think even with cheating at the polls they can beat him. I think the numbers are going to be too big. People are going to monitor the voting. You are right Obama is pretty impressive.
  • Thank you Cosmo. If I was making his money I'd turn into a meat loaf too. Even on Current if they promise they are sending a box, I get nice and mealy mouthed too. I expect one day to open a box from Current and find a car. So I'm careful. ;D
  • Cosmo, cars don't tick. Unless it's a nifty electric one. Do they tick? Wow, maybe an electric car? I'm cited now.
  • Yeah, a red one with built-in sattelite reception and maxed-out monitor...Niiiiicce!

  • that's a sweet picture of Barack and his grandpa.

  • Yes it is Stephen, I see joy on a little boys face. Obviously he was much loved. I like that.
  • Great picture!
    Thanks for posting.
    Very cute.

  • He's just like every other happy little boy who's loved!

There's no doubt the right will throw everything at him and continue rumors they've started but I don't think it's going to work as well this time. We all need to keep on top of the falsehoods and hypocricy from the right, and insist the lies be corrected in the media or on line. Thanks Marilynn.

  • I'm thinking about adding my high school on to the education section of my resume again. Why would I do such a thing, 11 years out of high school? As a fun little experiment to see how much attention people I interview with pay to politics! (For those who might wonder what the heck I'm talking about...I went to the same school as a certain presidential candidate discussed in this thread!)
    Tori
  • Oh good grief our Tori is a some kind of islamo fascist. Who would have guessed? Of course it could be she is just a smart normal smart person who went to an apparently pretty damned good school. Thank you Tori for putting the school thing in perspective. I am so sick of the ugly smearing campaign. I am sick to death of innuendo, and bringing up Barack's color as if that could make him less than what he is. I'm especially sick of the idea that because someone is blue collar that they are bigoted, and too stupid to vote their best interests. That somehow they can't relate well to Barack. People trying to promote the idea that he grew up in some kind of wealthy black Muslim ghetto home, with sinister plans to rule the world and make white people slaves. Half his family was white. He grew up around normal working class people. I expect he will be a truly great president.

  • Just to clarify, that snippet states that he is planning a trip in the coming weeks. The title of this article is somewhat misleading.

I think its pretty sad that an event such as this provides a basis for judgment of a political candidate. We should be focusing on issues that concern the American people as a whole. I think the fact that Obama has missed more than 40% of his senate votes is more important than him visiting his grandfathers grave.

  • This post is a judgement of character, both issues are important.

  • I found a picture of Barack's Mom and a cute little boy. This isn't about anything other than he was a cute little kid.

  • What does this reveal about Obama's character? The fact that he loves his grandfather. Wow. I love my grandfather too. And don't try saying that because his grandfather is a veteran Obama is not an elitist. John McCain is a veteran and everyone knows he is an elitist.

  • You sound a great deal like someone I know. First of all, if your subject is elitism, all three candidates could be called elitist by some standards. Obama the least of the three. And second of all, and I'm speaking for myself . . . I'll try saying whatever I please. If Obama chooses to spend the day at the cemetery in honor of his grandfather that's his choice for his own personal reasons. I plan on spending part of the day visiting my husband's grave at the National Cemetery, which says nothing about my character nor the character of the relatives of the 4,000 lost in Iraq who will be visiting graves of loved ones on "Memorial" Day. It amazes me how a gesture of respect can be twisted into an "elitist" comment by those that hate.

  • Do me a favor aude.

Define eltist, in your own words.

I'm tired of irrational fucks getting their education from television news. These people don't even know what it means to be an elitist.

  • First of all I never watch TV news. EVER. Please tell me what part of what I said is irrational. You jumping to the conclusion that I get my information from TV news, that is irrational. Don't make assumptions.

Clinton, Obama, and McCain are all elitist. This pertains to the fact that they are completely detached from what happens to the average American. They are in politics for personal gain, rather than for the betterment of America.

I'm tired of hearing about issues that have no bearing on Americans. I'm not spinning this into something negative. I'm saying that this is completely irrelevant.

  • Looks like a troll. It is still a free country and we can still do something just for fun.
  • Yes we can. (no pun intended)
