  • "We just have a disagreement. And, I, along with many, many others, wish you every happiness," McCain said. DeGeneres then shot back with her trademark biting humor. "So you'll walk me down the aisle? Is that what you're saying?" The candidate then broke out in huge laughter, responding only with, "touché."

  • He's got a sense of humor, you've got to give him that. Doesn't take him self too seriously, unlike Mr. Arrogant running for the Democrats.

  • Nice! I agree With JohnA, at the very least, he has a sense of humor. I wonder if he'll really do it... probably not, but it'd be funny if he did!

  • JohnA, is an educated black man an oxymoron in your book? really now, just because he's 10x smarter than you doesnt make him arrogant.

  • He is arrogant. And you don't have to be black or educated to be arrogant. Here's a tip, calling those with dissenting opinions stupid and racist is not going to unite anyone behind your candidate.

  • why is he arrogant according to your widsom?

  • WOW! I don't know if I think he is arrogant, but I am really SURPRISED at how vocally violent these Obama supporters are.
You guys are like mosquitos in a bog on this site!
It's fine that theres' a lot of you, but you all like to bite!
CHILL!!!! Some people don't like your candidate.... nothing to riot about! I let you have your opinion and COMPLETELY bash my favorite candidate and don't force explainations of every negative feeling or opinion posted about them. WTF is wrong with you guys? Why is it so appauling we like a different candidate and aren't very fond of yours?
Oh, I forgot, apparently, it means we're racist.
Whatever. You think what you want to, but you don't know either of us.

  • EdahDyke,
You are right some of the comments &/or rebuttals can be a little over the top and I don't know why people tend attack the messenger more than the message at times. Although, I do see where that might happen if the message isn't clear and one is unwilling or unable to articulate valid reasoning. True, it is hard to describe or argue with a "feeling" but if you use that alone as a basis for a decision of this magnitude you're going to face some scrutiny.

The other big reason for the grief is this is all new territory. There is no president to go by and one of the things everyone is keenly aware of is the potential racist aspect of the situation, as well as possible sexism.

Unfortunately sexism is still slightly more acceptable to some so it isn't quite as covert as racism. People feel more comfortable making a "blonde joke" over a "black joke". Consequently people tend to examine and over-examine unclear statements to ferret out any possible overtones/undertones of racism. If the actual bigots had the guts to come right out with their position and stand by it life would be easier for everyone - but of course they don't and that should be their first and biggest clue as to how wrong they truly are.
