$175 burger is topped with gold

Image...
"A Manhattan restaurant is offering a hamburger that costs $175 and is topped with gold. It's made of Kobe beef. It comes with black truffles, foie gras and Gruyere cheese in addition to gold flakes. Wall Street Burger Shoppe co-owner Heather Tierney thinks of it as "a work of art." Tierney says the item attracts Wall Street types who down a few beers and then fork over $175 to show off to their friends."

Why doesn't she feed the kids in china 175 dollars worth of food instead of feeding a bunch of low lifed a$$ licks. That could by alot of rice. Or, perhaps all those wallstreet types should take that 175 and purchase pounds of rice?

How sad is it that people all over the world do not have enough to eat or drink, yet we INSIST on putting GOLD in our food?!

God, this country never ceases to amaze me.

Yeah, well, it's part of what makes America great isn't it? Sucks ass that so much of the world still can't eat, but I'm kind of grateful that I live in a country that affords us all kinds of luxuries...like eating gold just because we can.

    According to Wikipedia:

"Pure gold is non-toxic and non-irritating when ingested and is sometimes used as a food decoration in the form of gold leaf. It is also a component of the alcoholic drinks Goldschläger, Gold Strike, and Goldwasser. Gold is approved as a food additive in the EU (E175 in the Codex Alimentarius)."

However, this doesn't make a person any less of a douchebag for dropping $175 on a hamburger (truffles and gold or not).

It's a real out-there statement on consumption...two things humans worship this day and age, beef and gold, married with guyere and black truffle to dress up the animalistic process to would-be elegance. Crass-tastic!

Looking at the picture of this hamburger it appears as though the gourmet still needs Heinz ketchup on it to make it tasty. Washed down with a diet coke presumably
