The leader of Colombia's largest rebel group, the FARC, has died, the military has claimed in a statement.
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia have been engaged in an armed struggle against the government for 40 years. Their aim is a Marxist revolution and some commentators believe FARC could now break up.
They are known to finance their operations through the lucrative drugs trade in the country which produces 80 per cent of the world's cocaine.

You know, overall I have to say selling drugs and kidnapping people is not an acceptable way to make political progress, but our own government's hands have been dirty with these nation's blood for years and years and I can't help but think if we stopped meddling in their affairs, stopped assasinating their elected leaders and putting military dictators in office, and stopped trying to take all their resources maybe they wouldn't go to such extremes to be heard. Or maybe I'm full of leftist sh*t... ;)
