China and Russia sign nuclear deal

Image...
"China and Russia on Friday signed a one-billion-dollar deal to expand a nuclear energy facility in the Asian nation, a Russian official said.

"We have completed negotiations on construction of a uranium enrichment factory," Sergei Kiriyenko, head of the Russian nuclear agency Rosatom, told reporters in Beijing...

This comes after China and Russia sharply condemned U.S. missile defense plans Friday, taking a harder common line that reinforces an already strong strategic partnership during Dmitry Medvedev's first foreign trip as Russian president".

Wow, and they're worried about Iran? The new arms race has begun. There are no words to express my outrage at the proliferation of nuclear weapons and power plants that are now taking place. We are setting ourselves up for destruction of our own species by our own hand.

Italy has now decided as well to build more nuclear power plants, and other nations in Europe are calling for the same... there will then be nuclear targets all over the world then and those who thrive on power and control and greed will have more of it. We should not be proliferating ANYTHING nuclear, we should be working to stop it.... but how can we now?

I don't want my child growing up in a nuclear world and I see nothing good about it nor about this deal. China has also made a deal to build nuclear plants in Pakistan as well... WW3 anyone?

While we're busy sending DVD's to Mars, China is getting ready to send a mission to Moon to get special nuclear fuel off of the surface of the moon.

off the surface of the moon? maybe as fuel to go FURTHER into space, but to shoot down moon dust to fuel stuff here on earth? that would be awesome, throwing bags of moon dust back to earth, what could go wrong

the easiest solutions are usually the best ones, is this one on the easy list? or the best one list? i know i know, WHO knows.... well, it just looks like CNNish news to me

i like how the us acts like international law against nuke development applies to iran but not to china. we should just call it what it is - we don't like iran, so of coarse they can't have nukes. we're chill with china, so it's probably better for us. whatever - if our government really feels that way then it should just say it (its not like iran doesn't already know) instead of trying justify its position by calling iran an international criminal. I think the former is a lot less agitating - and honest

Hmmmm guess America isn't the only country fucking up our environment.

I understand countries not upgrading their old stuff, but honestly if you're going to find a new source of energy why not switch to something actually "NEW" and "BETTER" - wind, solar.

From what I understand, nuclear energy is not the worst way to power a country. In the US, at least, the process of collecting nuclear energy is highly monitored and it is only when people neglect their duties that a terrible accident happens.
So long as we aren't moving to a nuclear age and nuking ourselves so that the monkeys can take over, then we need to allow other places to exploit nuclear energy.

Nuclear power isnt a bad thing, its only bad when it gets in the wrong hands.

Excellent point Wiz. It does sound scary once you first here it, but just as it has the potential of destroying us all, it is the natural progression of things...well, not natural as in organic natural, but...you know what I mean.

and you think it's in the right hands?..:( I see a bit of a Napolean complex and a hint of schitzophrenia in Dmitry Medvedev's eyes, and as for Hu Jintao, he looks like he has NPD (Narcissistic personality disorder), I don't know, you sure this Nuclear Power!!!!! is in the right hands.....?:(

Yeah, makes me wonder if we're taking a step back in evolution, devolving maybe? we look at our anscestors as though they were inferior and primitive, but we would all be persecuted, exiled and percieved to be imbeciles
in the eyes of our ancestors, literally.if we had been caught exploiting and ruining the earth the way we are.
