Pregnant man accused of gay rights zealotry and greed

Image...
" "When he had surgery to become a man, he had his breasts removed and was given testosterone to make him look and sound like a man, but he chose to keep his female reproductive organs.

So Beatie is really a man/woman hybrid. Call him a freak, if you like."

And making lots of money to boot. Beatie's little foray with his grass trimmer this week was a rare outing, on account of not wishing to jeopardize his lucrative contract with a picture agency by being photographed by paparazzi (which conveniently happened when he was trimming the lawn - but served to stoke up public interest in his story).

The blinds are drawn across every window of the house to stop anyone getting any sneaky dirtier pictures.

Nancy and Thomas declined to be interviewed because, Nancy told me: 'We've got a book coming out in September and we want to have stuff left to say so people buy the book.'

The couple are also contracted to People magazine and with Oprah Winfrey, though Nancy insists they are not being paid by Winfrey. (She did not give details of the deal with People magazine.)"

"Call him a freak, if you like." Isn't that a bit derogatory?

She is not a man, and she never will be! There is nothing special about a women being pregnant.

Why is everyone so upset? He's just a person, trying to live his life. There's no reason to be angry.

This story is confusing to me. If this person honestly wanted to be a man, why the fuck is s/he pregnant?

This story seems to defy logic completely. They want to be a man, but they are having a baby? They obviously don't want to live their live in privacy otherwise they wouldnt have sold their story to people magazine and Oprah. Its just a way of them making money out of people who pay to read about and see "freaks".

Due to severe endometriosis 20 years ago, Nancy Beatie had to undergo a hysterectomy and is unable to carry a child. That is why Thomas has to carry it.

It is very disrespectful to call someone you don't know a freak.

Hmm. I wondered what the "trigger" would be for God to just throw up his hands, say, "F*ck it," and launch the Tribulation and Armageddon. If this ain't it then I don't know what is. Burma typhoon, China earthquake, worldwide tsunami, 911, Katrina, ice caps melting, gas at $5.00/gal soon...oh, I'm sorry, did I break your concentration? They speak English in "What"?

Would this make Nancy Beatie a very technical lesbian? (If you don't consider Thomas a man, which I don't)

It is quite sad that this entire ordeal has been all about Beatie, the WOMAN that identifies herself as a man, and her/his desire to have a child sine her/his wife can't. Too bad this isn't about the child trying to develop in that body. Is Beatie still taking male hormones during this pregnancy to make sure she/he can keep that facial hair. What effect will that have on the fetus's development? And since she/he had breasts removed, what about that child having a mother to nurse upon? Oh, that's right, the now generation is "all about me".

Too bad noone has thought about that child soon to enter a life it did not ask for. I wonder how that generation is going to turn out....

It's stupid to think God is angry everytime somethin weird happens. That's how witch trials start.

Thomas stopped taking the hormones months before he started trying to get pregnant, he can probably lactate. Also, I don't see anything narcissistic about wanting to start a family.

This - person - is messing with a natural order. You can not just pick and choose if you want a peepee or not. If you're born with it, then you're born with it. If not, then be a girl. But when people start messing around with hormones to "become" a man or woman, they are messing with something they shouldnt be messing with.

Keep it up, and you'll rip a hole in the time/space continuum.

My friend is a transexsual... not a "freak" first of all. and secondly propaganda for a serious subject like this is wrong. I say shame on him for thinking that something like this is a financiall asset to him.

  •

Deciding that you really want to be a man, when you are a woman...getting your breasts cut off (not because you have cancer...doesn't that hurt?) Taking hormones to become more "manlike" AND THEN....

    Getting Pregnant?

Doesn't sound very much like the natural order of things to me, sounds very sad in fact, very sad indeed.

  •

chillwillNJ, I laugh at your stupidity. This will rip a hole in the time/space continuum? If someone wants to be a man or a woman, then so be it. It's none of your damn business. I'm tired of people like you who complain way too much about the private life of other people. But of course, they're trying to fill a void in their life to make themselves feel better.

I know you totally laughed at that time/space continuum thing. But seriously, "If someone wants to be a man or woman?" Get real. This is NOT a multiple choice question. You are born either male or female. How you want to portray your sexuality is up to you. BUT when a human being somehow thinks that its ok to cut your shlong off and take a pill so you can grow boobs and then get preggers all because of your "feelings", then THAT my friend is when you need to realize that it is AGAINST a natural order. I'm all for liberalism, but lets not jump off the deep end. I beleive that to a certain extent, there are boundaries that we should NOT cross. And limits we should NOT pass. For instance,.... bend your finger all the way back until it breaks...... go ahead, i'll wait.......................... SEE? It is NOT SUPPOSED TO BEND THAT WAY.

Humans have a special ability. Unique from all other beings on this planet. We actually get to be the authors of our own extinction.

We are all allowed our personal opinion. And that was mine. THAT JUST HAPPENED.

oh and FYI, my original comment was not a COMPLAINT. It was a forewarning.

    chillwillNJ
  •

Wow, chillwillNJ, you maganged to fit a lot of terms in your arguments which take away any sense of intelligence someone may have thought you had which wouldn't have been much. Boundaries we should not cross? Who are you to decide what is a "boundary" and what is in the "natural order" and what people can do with their own bodies? An individual is an individual first, before the addition of gender or sexual preferences, and how that person wishes to live it is their own buisness. And no, you couldn't possibly be for liberalism, because that is an argument only a right winger could support.

    Egnatius212
  •

Oh you are so right. How dare I express my personal opinion. What was I thinking? What is this? Some kind of open-source news outlet that lets people just say whatever they want?

    OH WAIT ... IT IS.

Why is it so appalling that someone point out that, ONCE in a while, there may just be a NATURAL order to a being?

Flowers pollenate other flowers, dogs breed with other dogs, birds with birds, etc. THAT is a natural order.

Is it so hard to understand that someone might feel like if a person is born with a penis, they should just live with a penis instead of cutting it off and fashioning a vagina? (or any other combo move you want to throw at it?)

You're arguing for the sake of argument, but myself, along with many others on current comment for the sake of voicing their OPINION.

So if you can't handle someone's opinion without attempting to jumble some big words and tell me what I can or cannot opinionate on, then maybe you should go back to youtube or ebaumsworld and post there.

    'magange' that.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex

    Annnnnnnnnnnnnd your argument falls apart.

Yes, you do have a right to speak your mind. That doesn't not make you an ignorant twat.

Oh, by the way, doctors often cut off or remove the genitalia of an intersex person to make them more like one sex or the other, often without the consent of the parent or without even informing them that their child is intersex. So much for a rip in the time-space continuum huh? Sounds more like humans that can't cope with the idea that their ideas about life are wrong and so change the world to fit their view. You should look up the history of circumcision too, maybe then you'd realize that some our medical practices are way fucked up.

While you're at it, you might want to study basic genetics and child development. A lot of these things you are claiming to be "natural," are actually social constructions. And before you make big claims about what is natural, even if you DID know the science, you might not want to forget that science is inductive, not God-given truth.

    Epic fail, go home.
