"NASA's Phoenix spacecraft landed in the northern polar region of Mars today to begin three months of examining a site chosen for its likelihood of having frozen water within reach of the lander's robotic arm".

Amazing, with all the failures lately I sort of expected this probe to go missing too. Thee BBC have links to some of the first pictures to come back from the landing which show the rocky surface of the area in which the probe will do its work.

The mad thing is that part of the mission plan is to prepare for human landings!
