Iranian president Ahmadinejad: 9/11 'suspect event'

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has described the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers in New York as a "suspect event" and queried the death toll.

"A building collapsed and they said 3,000 people had been killed but never published their names," he said in a speech in the holy city of Qom.

He did not mention the planes hijackers flew into the twin skyscrapers. On the fifth anniversary, the names of 2,749 people killed in New York were read out at a ceremony.

"Four or five years ago a suspect event took place in New York," President Ahmadinejad said.

"Under this pretext they [the United States] attacked Afghanistan and Iraq and since then a million people have been killed only in Iraq," he said in the speech broadcast on state-run television. Estimates of the number of lives lost in Iraq vary.

A World Health Organization survey in January this year suggested that 151,000 civilians had died between March 2003 and June 2006.

  • We American's based on common sense and highly contradictory information, and I guess we can't forget the manner in which the Busheney gang conducted themselves these long 7 + years - believe it was an inside job also.

  • I must say, I just watched some footage of the plane crashing into the tower above, and although the plane approaches and "allegedly" crashes into the side of the building, it is the shady side of the building. The side to the right of the impact side has the sun on it, but not the impacted side.

    Guess what, in the video I watched, the plane never goes into shadow as it crashes into the shadowed side of the building.

    Additionally, the right wing of the plane disappears as the plane crashes into the side of the building without damage to the building whatsoever - until the explosion erupts outward.

  • Ouch! Ahmadinejad and Bush are really at each other's throats right now. The irregularities in the official 9/11 version of events seem to be agreed upon by most people who've given them even a cursory glance ... but Ahmadinejad's no angel either. I know I wouldn't want to be living under either of their regimes.

    I have friends who died on one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center buildings, and I find your comments to be not only ignorant, but offensive.

    Aside from my disgust at your outlandish, unresearched claims, the fact of the matter is, even if it was a conspiracy, there is no way that the Bush/Cheney administration is intelligent enough to actually stage such a feat (one that actually works, in other words).

    Back up your opinions. They'll be far more respected and taken seriously.

    I have NO idea where you live in the country, but this is really conspiracy talk and you won't be taken seriously.

    I live in suburban Philadelphia AND there are a great many folks that commute everyday from here to NYC and back.

    17 folks, lost their lives that day from Bucks County, one was the pilot of one of the planes...didn't know him personally but he lived just streets away from me.
    Another was the son of one of our Twp. Supervisors.

    I could have lost some of my family but did not but there were some that worked for my company that died that day.

    Conspiracies do occasionally happen but mostly things just look like they could be but are not.

    Conspiracy claiming only gets you into trouble and not taken seriously.

    Can your eyes be fooled? Yes, sometimes but many, many times our minds can be fooled too. In this case, the film,nor folks eyes were fooled...the jet planes, in this case, were guided missles...their warheads were the extra gasoline in their tanks.

    That the towers did stay erect, after the explosions was a miracle and a testament to those who designed and built them.

    Claiming that our government had something to do with it, is just plain stupid and worse it is a slap in the face to the memories of all those folks who lost their lives and their families who survive!

  • This is for PatrickEdwardMurray and anyone else that wants to criticize anyone that suggests a conspiracy to be involved. First things first, those buildings were made out of steel and concrete and would take more than 50 tons of jet fuel to take them down, so to be exact, the miracle was that they actually came down. Second, when analyzing the facts, (which one must do if they are willing to discuss any topic or event), everything displays foul play on the American side more so than anyone else. There truely is not any evidence to show any affilition with a single Arab and the events that took place on 9/11. As far as Ahmadinejad goes, he is simply asking people to question what you are told and not believe everything you are told just because the big cheese tells you so. All in all, this discussion here on Current is all Ahmadinejad wanted, just like when he talks about the Holocaust and asking people to wonder why history books have not explained why the Palestinian people had to suffer for everything that happend to the Jews. One word- manipulated.

    The funny thing is, I've previously concluded it was likely an inside job as a result of many other things. I do limited special effects and video editing so I looked at the footage again. I'm sure the footage wasn't very good that I looked at, but it's pretty clear from what I can determine - the plane never went into shadow, and the right wing disappears without inflicting ANY damage to the building whatsoever.

    There is resulting damage, but it's after the explosion. Look for your self and stop whining with your false patriotism and sentimentality - fools.

    I don't have a problem with America leading the world, have a problem with psychopaths exploiting and compromising us all.

  • Thanks for the link mischabarrett, Michael Meacher's comments have the ring of truth. It's difficult for some to even entertain the idea that our current administration is that corrupt. Most have forgotten to question or to think logically.
