Shocking Channel 4 Dispatches documentary on Supermarkets in the UK and how they con the public to reap fat profits at the expense of growers, breeders, suppliers, animals and not least you the consumer.
If you haven't already seen this prepare to be really affected and you won't buy from a supermarket again.

Thankfully I have acquired the skills to process the meat which i eat. This allows me to avoid the "industrial" scale food producers and purchase from smaller local farmers.
I think if most people were responsible for their own processing, there would be fewer mass scale producers.
But with "convenience" being top priority for most of the world, this may never happen...

I worked at a factory chicken farm for 3 winter months a few years ago, and I stay away from supermarket meats as a result (aside from the obvious hell the birds go through, it's just @#$%ing gross).
