Relative News Analysis FROM The Hankyoreh...

It's being reported on the BBC that 29 people have been arrested in the protests.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7420875.stmI think that South Koreans have the right to protest the import of US beef, particularly in the wake of the largest recall of beef in America. Why, if US beef isn't safe for Americans, should it be exported to other people around the world?

Check out this Korean blog thread about why so many students are leading these protests... "chalking it up as much to the swirl of bizarre rumors as to their desire to simply make themselves heard on something, and speculates about what this all may mean for the future."
Interesting... it says most of them are afraid of being the first 'victim' of mad cow disease, as they think that the beef will show up in schools first. But then a lot of their information is incorrect, and it seems like there's a kind of group hysteria that has built up around this issue. I'm not suggesting that they should accept beef in S. Korea, but it sounds like they need some more information to get their facts straight.
