  • Dolphins would strongly disagree! They also procreate for fun. But don't worry; the government will find a way to Tax it, internet porn that is...

  • Sorry peeps, we still live in a society where some of this is still taboo. But by these numbers....Free LOVE!!!

  • "WITHOUT SEXUAL MORALITY HOW CAN THEY BE TRUE LOVE ? "

    Um yeah, are you trying to say that people who watch porn are immorral and unable to love? Cause that would be pretty ignorant and untrue, right?

    We are sexual beings and sexuality is part of our deepest selves. Its like food, sleep and twinkies.. you just got have it.

    Anyway, the Month of May is National Masturbation Month so I doubt these numbers are goin down anytime soon...

  • Obviously the major TV networks aren't sending out enough spam email.
  • People who say: " I love you" and then are cheating are scum

    Infidelity break up marriages and the hearts of millions of children

    Life are destroyed by pornogaphy

    Child pornography is the worse

  • watch this comment being used here
    wow, this is amazing to actually see these numbers. it really doesn't surprise me though.
  • Actually, couples that watch porn together are more likely to stay together.

    And not all cheating breaks up marriages, in fact it's usually a sign that the marriage wasn't going well in the first place.

    Many MARRIED couples fuck other people knowingly, tell their kids that and everyone grows up just fine.

    Oh yeah, there's also no link between porn viewership, cheating frequency and divorce rates.

    Open mouth, insert foot soleil.

  • Saladin

    Of course there are link between pornography, cheating and divorce.

    Go ask a divorce lawyer or a judge.

    I think you need a therapist

  • The biggest disgrace of our world is porn. Exploiting sex and generally degrading women. Morals out the window.
    realcanadian
  • So glad you think people fucking is the disgrace of our world and not torture or war. Great moral priorities there canadian.

    Uh, no there's not soleil, you're full of shit. And I don't need a therapist to tell me how to live my life. But I understand if you lack the personal judgment to make your own decisions and need an "expert" to tell you how to live. Not all of us have the personal confidence to understand that relationships are about communication and understanding and not arbitrary sexual bonds promoted hundreds of years ago for political reasons.

    Have fun with your fake facts, I'll have fun watching porn with my girlfriend of over three years.

  • Recently I picked up Refer Madness, by Eric Schlosser which talks about the American Black Market, including Sex, Drugs and Cheap Immagrant Labor.(Schlosser also wrote Fast Food Nation.)

    What is so crazy about seeing these numbers is that--according to Sclosser's extensive research--can all be linked back to one man; Rueben Sturman--the Godfather and mastermind behind modern day pornucopia.

  • I think we have bigger issues at hand instead of porn. So far, the responses I have read are just people who like to demonize the very idea of a sexual act. And of course, porn is one of the hot topics (when it shouldn't be).

    In my opinion, porn is porn. I personally do not believe watching pornography causes cheating and divorce. And to solei10, divorce lawyers and judges are not the best specialists to ask for the causes of divorce and cheating. So far, there is no correlation of any kind between pornography and divorces and cheating. If there, show it to me. I've studied statistics and I'll tell you if that research was bogus or not.

    Again, porn is porn. We have other issues at hand. Let's move on. And also, don't bring the idea of morals into this. I find people who rant about what is moral very annoying.

  • Porn will exist as long as these pre-requirements meets:

    1. There must have Men evolved.
    2. There must be a presence of a sexual repressive society.

    The rest is just history and profits!
    stopnoise
  • If I were the head of one of those networks I would start showing porn after midnight.

    Sexual Morality??? How many websites are there for that? Humans are not so one dimensional that we can't love and be promiscous and be sexual deviants etc etc. all at the same time.

    If men spend all this time looking at porn on the web what are women looking at? I think woman probably lie when asked if they watch porn so the numbers are lower. I've never met a girl over 18 who hasn't seen any porn.

    There is lot's of lesbian porn out there with no men involved stopnoise.

  • How is this even news worthy, the porn industry is running strong and always will because SEX WILL ALWAYS SELL. And as for sexual morality, that is something each person has to have for themselves. It is a personal choice to have morals as much as it is to watch porn. Watching porn does not make a person bad or give them bad morales, usually just makes them tired or the sex better that night.

    I know that I would rather have a husband who jerks it to porn than screwing the skank next door.
    etosha_pent
  • @observer2121 Doesn't Cinemax already do that?

    And one thing you can say about porn is it certainly drives innovation. It's always first in finding new ways to be distributed. The expansion of VCR and web sites to name a few.

  • We are sexual beings? Excuse for the lack of control people have? An excuse to do as you wish, is more like it. Moral it isn't and morality is not subjective. Take pride in being immoral because fun is all you care to do no matter the decay on society it is having. Decay doesn't mean quickly dying, either. Decay happens slow and methodically. Rotting from the inside out is how most kingdoms have fallen.

  • I'm not going to sit here and argue about porn and masturbation. To each his own. Goodbye Current, hello Youporn. . .
  • 72 % of females are lying :-/

  • "Sexual morality"... this is coming from a person living in a country where shows like "Who wants to Marry a Millionaire,"The Bachelor, and "Next" originated and were huge successes.

  • PORN is really sex without love.
    soleil10
  • I love the question posed. And I can imagine that it is going to cause a lot of debate. I have to agree with the point made though. Porn just ruins lives.

    I can't say I am surprised by the numbers though.

  • The fact that porno is successful doesn't suprise me, I can't honestly imagine that porno reflects the majority of divorces. If anything, i feel that "healthy" porno watching may be good for a relationship. if not porno, would one rather have someone go out and actually find a person to cheat with? I just don't believe there is a solid connection with porno and breakups...

  • People like sex! What a revelation!(I'm flowing with sarcasm here)
    current89
  • With such staggering statistics you have to wonder if there is a possible benefit to the existence of pornography. The first thing that comes to mind is that it is a much more healthy way to relieve sexual frustration than say, meeting 'randoms' on the internet and contracting whatever STD is hot that season. We just have to realize that pornography has been around for a while and is embedded deep within our culture. It's also just a matter of realizing that these outstanding statistics is nothing more than a response to technology and it's ever growing convenience. Let's also not be so biased, there may very well be an increase in the number of people searching for "Jesus and/or God"...on the internet..

  • I like porn.
    rabidlemur
  • porn is the work of the devil...ha ha ha ha...

    Apparently my home, Dallas, Texas is one of the centers for porn...yep it's true...a buddy tells me when the last Republican convention was held, there was a shortage of hookers, dancers, etc. all over the country...except New York...yep, the conventions are one of the biggest job opportuities for sex workers...God Bless America and our two faced politicians...

  • What? No video for this pod? Dang!

    There are so many great comments to respond to here;

    1) I thought June was National Masturbation Month! I'll have to catch up;

    2) regarding saladin's comment that porn doesn't break people up soleil10, you said "ask a lawyer?" LMAO! Too funny, right not only do they have a monopoly on morality, but they're not in denial at all;

    3) stopnoise - you are right that a sexually repressive society forces natural, healthy expressions, needs and desires to manifest in other ways, such as porn and rape. Sorry you sexual moralists, but it's true;

    4) pudentaine - don't you mean: "...so-o-o how about a piece... ?" LOL;

    5) Heelllloooo Organized _Chaos! LOL;

    6) keeshii - we meet again, wink - wink;

    7) soleil10 - "porn is sex without love"? Really? How do you know? Please tell us all about your enlightening experience, no please.

    It's fun just talking about sex isn't it guys and gals, even if some of you are condemning it? Admit it!

    It's one of those subjects that are very difficult to look at objectively, without projecting one's own thoughts, ideas, fears or desires. So, what most people have to say is really a comment about themselves; how they see; think and feel about sex and sexuality.

    Each of you should look at what you wrote and try seeing it as an expression of you, your sexual attitude, development and experience - rather than a factual statement about the topic, and then realize the reality of it may not have anything to do with what you wrote.

    Yes, it's hard to imagine a world or society where people carried on so freely as they do in the porn films, grab a piece here, there, get naked and do it on the bosses desk - with the boss one day, the secretary the next, whatever. I'm not saying it should be just that way.

    On the other hand, here we are in society trying to be puritanical and all on the surface, but seeking vicarious sexual experience via pornography.

    This is a tough issue because there are so many variables from one individual to the next, but in general terms one must look at a society and question things when it's okay to shot or blow up people, but it's taboo to have an intimate encounter with them.

    And to address you in particular soleil10 - every sexual encounter I have ever had involved love - at least from me, even if it was a one night stand. So, I can only conclude you have been having sex with only Republicans, or lawyers. Sorry.

  • Everyone loves sex.
    Masturbation is healthy.
    But repression drives people insane.
    It's time we stop being held back by the values of the Apocalyptic Puritans.
    The only problem people really have with porn is that now it's everywhere (in the sense of the internet)
    Stop hiding from sexual freedom.
    Every intelligent animal (dolphins, chimps, etc) enjoys sexual activity... (dolphins purposely save human lives and Chimps make spears)
    Get over it, let people bang the hell out of eachother to turn a profit if they want to, as long as they keep it clean
    Healboy
  • Got to go deeper (no pun intended) - what lies beneath the surface guys and gals.

    People want to feel close, they want to feel intimacy (close) with another. For some of you, maybe me too, it's scary, very scary in a way that most people don't have vocabulary for and are not accustomed to giving voice to.

    Pornography provides a substitute for the intimacy we don't allow or trust people enough to have in our daily lives, so we seek it were we can. It is a natural consequence - it's too bad porn is done so poorly.

    Great "regular" movies have a similar effect in drawing people together making us feel closer and united with people. The fact porn is so big is a statement on the degree we as a society have been divided - perhaps by intent.

  • Also morality only exists because humanity is unable to accept its own imperfection

  • with these staggering numbers. imagine how many porn advertisements there are. every site ive been to has at least 5 popups per page. not to mention 25-50 links to various other sites with 5+ popups per page... I mean are they sure that there are 4.2 million porn webpages? or is it just like 10000 or so sites with links to each other

    think about it.

  • Isn't "PORN" a subjective matter? Moreover, why are some people so concerned with what others want to watch or do with their genitals? Porn isn't for everyone but then neither is marriage, homosexuality or religion. If you don't like it don't do it, change the channel &/or do not support it but let the next person knock themselves out if it floats
