I went out in Bristol to see what drugs were available and being used today, I found that Ketamin was amongst the most common, one of the cheapest and with some of the most intense and scary effects. After finding it's actually intended to be used as a horse tranquiliser, i took ketamin user 'Gruff' to a vetinary surgery to witness what effects a similar amount of Ketamin has on a horse.

I just want to make it very clear that the horse was already scheduled for an operation (to remove a testicle) by the very well respected Equine surgery who were kind enough to let me film it. The operation procedure was in no way influenced by the pod, the operation was sucessful and the horse made a full recovery.

Blimey - that's some really strong imagery there - found the sequence with horse surprisingly hard to watch but loved Gruff's face when you panned round. This needs a bit of a tidy, I think, to focus in on ketamine but there are some great moments in this. Good work.

Lina's right, there is some strong, hard-hitting stuff here. These guys have a death wish, I wonder if they feel any differently when they watch this film back.

It's really well made, and you've obviously put a lot of work and research into it. Aside from some sound issues and the need to tighten it up (possibly get it under 12 mins), you have an excellent presentational style and voice-over technique.

awesome work Stew! It says plenty about our veterinarian-rave Culture in the UK. I caught site of people doing this at Glade Festival two years ago; it sure was scary.

This is pretty mad.... I just posted up a thread about this very subject. Check out this video on Friction.tv from a guy that wrote a piece on Ketamin for the Guardian a couple of weeks ago.

Strange coincidence.... but good lead video stewgame!!

just another scaremongering video ive seen it all before a cheap trick like the tabloids use to sell the crappy papers.Ketamine is primary a human tranqualizer(the most succesfull one) some advice to people would be to look up and make your own conclusions on things instead of going the easy route(TVs primary motive is to sell advertising space) and they will distort the truth to make some cash or get them self noticed(sorry stewgame the truth hurts)

Shut your k-hole, pepspeers - this pod is awesome! Of course, if you want to make a pod where you "advise people to look up ketamine", go for your life! I'm sure it'll win an Emmy, it sounds SO interesting.

  •

wow... that was really good. i mean i knew it was a horse tranquilizer and used to tell my friends that it was jst that, but never knew so little was used to actually down a horse... and a horse is a few times larger than we.

good pod, all the more reason y ive steered clear of k..... well until my nxt birthday that is!

i think its absoloutly diabolical using a Horse to show how powerful Ketamine is ! If you really wanted to see the effects of that stuff the presenter should have had a go !

    ~

Ketamine ( not 'ketamin' ) is used on humans as an anaesthetic in hospital for major operations, its very popular with the doctors believe it or not! Drug users and other Psychonaughts are attracted to the delusional hallucinations is produces, and because the whole experience is usually over within an hour (unless its been combined with alcohol) its very easy to abuse and become dependant on.

    ~

I am not a user of Ketamine, it was givin to me through my detox period at rehab (i was an alcoholic for 13 yrs) and all i can say is it changed my life for the better, Medics believe it to be very effective in treating alcohols and depressed people (at very low levels, of course! no where near what that poor horse got.)

    ~

All i can say is i believe Ketamine is a brilliant drug in the vetinary and medical world and has limitless uses, but as far as snorting it at parties etc is concerned, i have to say i havent got any respect for the people who are doing this, they must have little respect for themselves..

Great pod stew, freaky to see how quickly the horse gets knocked out. I like Gruffs comment at the end, i wonder if he did actually do it again after seeing that..

Here's a link to the final pod that was broadcast on Current TV. We edited it down a little to concentrate on the main story. Tell us what you think!

awesome. ketamine is used frequently out at my barn for minor surgical procedures----some of my friends have been surprised to know it is the stuff they snort at parties.

  •

Hey Gruff, why the long face?

He makes such a big deal about it being a horse tranquiliser, but it's actually an anaesthetic that is regularly used on (human) children who display adverse reaction to other anaesthetics... So half of this video is completely spurious.

Ketamine is a nasty drug - it almost killed my brother who was injecting three bottles of it a day into himself. He was completely unaware of how badly it was affecting him - finally was so dehydrated and malnourished (had lost all interest in food) that he had to be admitted urgently to hospital in Kathmandu for treatment. He had lost over 4 stone in weight and his kidneys had all but failed. All of his friends and family were in terrible shock to see the horrendous impact it had on him. He looked like a man thirty years older than his years
