Lovely film. Optimistic, good-natured, nicely edited.

Careful when shooting in front of a window - either use a reflector to bounce light onto your subject and/or use lights, or shoot with the window behind you. I say this because for the first part of the film we don't see John's face which alienates the audience a bit because he's talking about personal stuff and we need to see those feelings in facial expression as well.

Daniel - thanks for the kind comments.

You're right about lighting on this one. It's only the 3rd film I've made, learning all the time. Might have to dig deep and fork out for some lights for the next one!

Have a look at Checkmates and Shroom if you get the chance.

What a lovely film. I didn't see that coming, to make a tea pot from your dads ashes, what an interesting idea. Well edited and heartfelt. Really liked it. I've been meaning to make a doc on my father and his experiences emigrating to England in the '60s, he is still alive but in his mid 70s. It made me think I should really take the opportunity and sit him down for an interview before perhaps its too late. So thanks!
