Once again, Michelle Malkin shows us how rediculous she can get.
Does Dunkin' Donuts really think its customers could mistake Rachael Ray for a terrorist sympathizer? The Canton-based company has abruptly canceled an ad in which the domestic diva wears a scarf that looks like a keffiyeh, a traditional headdress worn by Arab men. Some observers, including ultra-conservative Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin, were so incensed by the ad that there was even talk of a Dunkin' Donuts boycott. "The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad," Malkin yowls in her syndicated column. "Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant and not-so-ignorant fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons.".... (Follow the link for more.)
This is ridiculous. Its a scarf, this is America, are we censoring the use of scarves because they look like something a terrorist would wear?
Does Fox News and its ridiculous staff actually swallow this kind of nonsense?

I think DD put it best. "In a recent online ad, Rachael Ray is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design."

It's a pretty goofy looking scarf; I never thought that the "fashion police" were real...maybe I was wrong....
-
1. It's a scarf. What are we going to do, start having approved types of clothing?
2. If they're going to cancel the ad, it should be because Rachel Ray is annoying...not because something she's wearing might kinda sorta look like a keffiyeh, if you tilt your head and squint just right. -
Oh I see, well then when are we going to start pulling down gas stations and stop buying their oil if we can't even buy coffee from an American company using an American TV personality that MAY have an Arab LOOKING scarf on?
-
Anyone can buy those scarves at Urban Outfitters. They're in the men's section in Seattle.
They didn't really appeal to me because I don't see myself as a scarf person, but now... now I think I HAVE to have one!
Damn it retail therapy! -
Well thank god they didn't actually show any real middle-eastern people in the ad. It might have been the end of Dunkin' Donuts.
-
Geez. A wardrobe person thought it was attractive. Another great example of FOX News fabricating (get it? hyuk) a pointless noise and a company caving.
Has everything become terrorist related at FOX? -
People throw the word "jihad" around way too easily. It's not like she's wearing a Nazi helmet.
-
FOX should stuff their damn politics and ideas up their ass! This is really outraging and i say everyone should go buy a scarf like this and protest in front of every FOX station in the country, then maybe they will flee the country for fear of diversity!! F-FOX

This just reminds us that Fox News and Dunkin' Donuts are not good for your mental or physical health.
-
Look at all those dirty hipster terrorists. They're totally going to bomb the housing prices on the Lower East Side!

If Dunkin' Donuts is spineless enough to kowtow to the delusions of Michelle Malkin and the FoxSpin soothsayers, then they have no business selling anything with caffeine in it. They should instead sell food products that put people to sleep, because that is what the soothsayers want people to be in a perpetual state of anyway.
Meantime, I'm going to get my donut fix at Krispy Kreme or any place that has the courage to tell Malkin where to shove that hysteria of hers. -
i don't like the scarf either really. it looks like a rag
-
so just because she's wearing a scarf, they have to drop the whole ad? that's ridiculous! im guessing FOX doesn't realize how much people hate them, for that anchor to come up with her comments.

This is so freakin' ridiculous!! Give me a break people! Whether she is wearing that scarf or not, I still wouldn't spend one penny of my money at a Dunkin' Donuts!
-
She has Arab eyebrows too, not a coincidence. j/k
The fact is that she is really annoying and they were probably looking for a way to get out of their contract.-

And yet another nonstory that distracts. Is this an affiliate of Fox news? Because for all of the supposed hate for it it sure does find its way to the frontpage a lot with everyone knowing what its commentators are saying.

I took this off of Michelle Malkins’ website,
“It’s just a scarf, the clueless keffiyeh-wearers scoff. Would they say the same of fashion designers who marketed modified Klan-style hoods in Burberry plaid as the next big thing? Fashion statements may seem insignificant, but when they lead to the mainstreaming of violence—unintentionally or not–they matter. Ignorance is no longer an excuse. In post-9/11 America, vigilance must never go out of style.”
I can’t believe this woman would actually compare a traditional Arab headdress (that is also worn by Africans and British soldiers) to the hood of a clan member. Such ridiculous and unsound logic would be ripped to shreds if posted on current.com. This lady is an idiot and we should all point and laugh at her. -
If DD drops Rachel, wanna bet they have Kelly Rippa waiting in the wings?
Yee-Gad-Zooks! -
Tisk tisk, FOX. But don't worry, as long as you never pull the Simpsons I'll still love you.

The worst part is that DD actually pulled the ad! I'm already boycotting them because their donuts suck, but the next time I need a random coffee, you can be sure I won't get it from DD.
-
yanked for the ugly scarf?
she should have been yanked for that horrendous over the top cackle, the lame jokes, and not being a real chef who knows what she's talking about...
yet we are still cursed to hear her nonsense on TV... -
I'm gong to buy one of these scarves just because Fox news doesn't like it. I have already boycotted Fox News, now I'm going to boycott Dunkin' Donuts as well.
-
Ridiculous
-
Oh my god Jan you are everywhere. Every time there is a story about FOX news you always have to leave the same response. Whoop-dee-fing-do we get it. We’re all idiots that can’t help but discuss the mad assertions of that biased news channel. The problem is every time we get distracted, you get distracted by us being distracted. So we’re all idiots so =P
-
you gotta love Fox News

Who, other than conservative crazies, says it's come to symbolize jihad? Is middle-eastern synonymous with terrorism now? What's next, eating falafel for dinner makes me a terrorist?
From Wikipedia: "Since the beginning of the War on Terror, these keffiyeh, usually cotton and in military olive drab or khaki with black stitching, have been adopted by US and troops as well. Their practicality in an arid environment, as in Iraq, explains their constant popularity with soldiers."-

Now that we know all terrorist sympathizers wear the same kind of scarf, it should make the "war on terror" pretty easy to fight. Kudos to Malkin for taking on the sprinkle-industrial complex and its glazed ties to terrorism.
-
So if I wear the same undies as a terrorist, or better yet undies that kind of resemble the undies of a terrorist, does that make me a sympathizer?

It's a scarf! People should be allowed to wear what they want... It's a piece of cloth.

Michelle Malkin is just an Ann Coulter wannabe, she should be ignored.

After doing a little more research on this Michelle Malkin, I've decided she is total scum. This is the 2nd story in two days where Fox News has completely disgusted me. Why -OH WHY- do people watch that garbage?
And +1 for ridiculous.* -
this is proof that you have to have part of your brain removed to get a job on "fixed" news. the part that processes common sense, reason and judgement. no attachment between vocal chords and cereberal cortex needed.just hard wire gop to any brain dead talking head and turn on camera!
-
Because when I see Rachael Ray wearing a scarf I am immediately reminded of Arab men…Leave it alone, it makes her eyes pop.

I dislike scarfs, but I like Rachel Ray. So if I saw the commercial i would ignore the scarf and focus on her, therefore I wouldn't even acknowledge the existence of that retarded scarf.
-
Fox is like the current administration... the closer you look, the more you listen, the longer they are around... the more insane they become.

I don't think this is a non-story -- considering there are several places in the world where Muslims are prohibited from wearing their religious garb at school, etc. -- it's just another example of fear-based bigotry, and as usual, FauxNews is leading the charge.
BTW, when I saw 'Canton-based company' in the above article, my first thought was, here's another company in America that is owned by the Chinese -- but when I looked it up, it was Canton, Massachusetts [red face lol] -
Television media is so full of shit.
-
Again, how we decided to go against something as stupid as this and complain about it til everyone knows about it and "they" (people who are against it) wins.
I say pick a fight against something against your size like... porn films. You don't see anyone saying "boycott porn."
