Growing up in NC, the Andy Griffith Show was a staple on the syndicated after-school time slot. I think I have seen every episode, B&W and Color, not including "Mayberry RFD."
You can't whistle the first 3 notes of this song without having to hear the rest. Otherwise it will haunt you all week. Isn't that the signifier of the most awesome theme songs in TV history?
BTW, I know you're going to ask, "Is there really a Mayberry, NC?" No. However, Mayberry is based loosely on the town of Mount Airy, NC, which is close to Pilot Mountain (you will remember the also-fictional town of Mount Pilot in the show) in the Northwest corner of the state.
