A Call To The Legal Profession To Defend Citizens Against Noise Pollution
By Arline L. Bronzaft, PhD.
The Natural Resources Defense Council in New York City has estimated that "...international passenger traffic will double by 2010 and domestic passenger traffic will double within the next 20 years." Whereas this potential growth in airport travel is being met with glee by the aviation industry, it is bringing distress to the millions of people who live close to airports and have to live daily with the noise from overhead jets. Similarly in community after community, residents are registering complaints that noises from recreational vehicles, highways, leafblowers, garbage collections, high speed-auto racing, and nearby discos are robbing them of the peace and quiet to which they believe they are entitled. Sadly since too little attention has been paid to noise pollution, many people find their complaints fall on "deaf ears."

After living near an airport for years and not only hearing the noise but having them fly way too low, I agree with this.

How ironic..."deaf ears".
I hate noise pollution, I hate those cars that you can hear approaching from a mile away because their bass in the stereo has such a dive of low frequency.
My ear plugs cannot filter out bass sounds. -
I know, those cars with those big bass speakers rattle my pictures and bed warmer on my walls, not to mention the windows. I am lucky that it only happens rarely...but it still is obnoxious. Motorcycles racing and revving up their machines happens more often and the race down the street is dangerous at the speeds they are traveling. I wish we had some of those undulationsbuilt for this street is a long wide one.

We are working on something! For me It is shocking that we have machines with 2008 technology to acoustically harass the population and our Streets are back on the 1920's mode. If these guys have money to burn on expensive equipment we want that money to make our streets safer and we can get it if we Unite for a change!
By the way several pictures fell out from our walls also. A friend of my garage's cement fell off on top of his car truck damaging the painting! These issues all were the result from boom boxes or boom cars as they say passing by. -

You know I am not pressing that button again! So you will have to come here and vote on the issue so we can air it on TV! -
Hurrah Stopnoise!! I know this is an important issue with many people. Keep telling the truth and it will go far and wide for you!
-
Thanks Ciba! Actually this is my job! To expose issues that it is as close as possible to the true of facts. My hopes is that people will act after reading these news! Please spread the News and cast your vote to this news as we are being followed by a weak group of phantoms of the opera that goes around voting negative on everything I post here! No problem, I love jealous people hanging around me! That means I am pushing some buttons out there in which it is all good!

I do tell everyone at work and my patients to get on board with current.com. I am a walking ad for this site and encourage them to see current news on TV. All the issues that are not out there for normal news watchers are missing tremendous information necessary for them to make good choices. You must have all the facts, not just the ones that the government wants you to see or hear from their 'nightly news". Propaganda makes me so mad! And I tell them about your crusade about noise pollution, and have had enthusiastic responses. It is an issue that touches everyone whether the live rurel or city.

That is great Ciba! I hope they all join in and start to speak about it also! When I started this educational project Years ago, I heard so many misconceptions and stereotypes along the way that it was not even funny. I also received some phone call threats and some people telling me why don't I go do something more important like taking care of the homeless and so forth. I responded to them that they already have someone taking care of the homeless but no one is taking care of the noise issues in the City.
People that are pro-noise or are desensitized to noise love to throw some of these words on you:
1. Ha! You must be over sensitive to noise or
2. You know that we are in the City don't you? or
3. I do not want to hear about it! or
4. Ha! That is nothing! Let me tell you what I am going through on my street everyday and I am not complaining!
These are some of the misconceptions I am throwing there as there are so many that it would extend this conversation to the kingdom come. A lots of people think I am doing this only for myself and because I am bothered by noise everyday. Their cultural level are so low in this area that sometimes it is like trying to teach a child how to speak. That is the reason I produced the movie: "Jack knows about it" that you can find it on YouTube by typing the word, "stopnoise" on the search field. Anyway, many people does not understand I have a Higher Education on the subject and that noise is connected with many other things related to human mental and Spiritual Development. Noise almost define your education or a society's education and care towards one another. In many instances, When you hear lots of noise, you can be certain that the people's personal education or behavior is low. The true fact of Today it is that we all must catch up with time, educate ourselves and respect ourselves.
You cannot say you care or you have respect for others and on the same token use your mechanical vehicle to trespass other people rights of quietness. That won't stick in!
