If there is any truth to the rumors that Barack Obama might be assassinated, a trip to Iraq presents the potential murderers with the ideal set up for that. I think he should avoid going to Iraq.

    Three - I didn't imply that the Iraqis would assassinate him were he to go to Iraq. I merely pointed out that such a trip offers the best opportunity for possible assassins to operate - it would be so easy to pass it off as an attack by "Al Qaeda" or the "insurgents" - this kind of false-flag ploy is very commonplace, as even the most cursory knowledge of history amply verifies.

  • To think that I tried to give you an inch and apologize was my first mistake. The second was to follow the link you gave me thinking it would have some real justification for your obvious misleading of the people who read this post.

    Give me a break! Those links aren't to rumors and are bullshit remarks from slandering TV personalities. None of which recite any sort of rumor but only embellish giggles they would get if it were to happen in time.

    I would have chosen better defense words if I had assumed you were to try and turn this into an argument. Thanks for the clarification.

    And by the way lifterbaron, you might want to venture out from beneath your rock and heed the news. Vierotchka isn't the only one to mention the word "assassination" when talking about Obama -- the press have been having a field day with Hillary's RFK reference. (see posted link)

Well, I could use the original set of facts leading you to spread the idea that there is any sort of rumor of an assassination attempt on O, that could be carried out in Iraq, on a potential trip. I'll gladly tear the other person up if you could tell me where I might be able to find more info on this topic. But if you can't I'll just let it be and assume you have nothing (referring to facts or evidence to support your claim that there is some sort of rumor going around) to clarify the misunderstanding. The readers will decide who is making an attempt at clearing things up and and who is full of shit.

  • Ive heard the clip mransom. Nowhere does it bring mention to the fact that anyone is talking about trying to assassinate anyone. It may seem that way to those that don't look in more than one spot to support their ideas.

    Clinton only refers to an assassination plot in 68, not on Obama. She might even imply that its a possibility, but that doesn't make it a rumor that there will be an attempt on Obama at all let alone in Iraq.

  • Exactly. Any serious candidate MUST go to Iraq. I don't care if he goes with McCain or alone. He should go. He should report what he sees there. He should meet with the Iraqi Government (both federal and provincial) and with tribal leaders. He should meet with Petraeus. I look forward to hearing his report.

  • lifterbaron, perhaps you should begin by studying the difference between rumor and fact. Once you've acquired the faculty of discerning between the two - in three or four years if you're lucky - come back and continue this discussion.

    I provided you with ample evidence, via my link, of the fact that this rumor exists.

    Another necessary subject of study for you is the meaning of the word "conjecture". That might take you an extra two or so years.

    at the same time, wouldnt a group of military personnel which backs barack, gathering in iraq, welcoming him, be the last stitch he needs to win the election, even months before the general vote?

    this scenario seems to be a double edge sword, too real and surreal
