Bahrain's king has appointed a Jewish woman as the country's envoy to the United States.
Houda Nonoo, 43 is believed to be the Arab world's first Jewish ambassador and Bahrain's first women ambassador to the US.
This comes as Bahrain is negotiating the return of Bahraini Jewish families who fled the kingdom after the Israeli-Arab conflicts in the fifties.
Islam is the main religion of Bahrain.
