We hear a lot in press regarding cannabis and its effects on the human body.
"In the red corner" we have the hardened cannabis users who won't be told anything different. They've used cannabis for many years, with seemingly little or no ill-effect. They smoke pot, and they like it a lot, and nothing the government is going to say is going to change that.
Meanwhile in "the blue corner", we have the anti-cannabis brigade, with their tales of cannabis woe. Stories as published by the popular press, such as the Daily Mail for instance, who's editor Paul Dacre has made cannabis his own personal mission-in-life.
If this group is to be believed, cannabis is the root cause of a multitude of ailments including international terrorism. Regardless of the fact cannabis is now a prescribed drug in many global regions, politicians (and news editors) in Europe are still loath to even reference the fact this practice takes place. But it does!
They prefer instead, to concentrate on the 'party line', whichever party they are loyal too. And not giving cannabis a shred of credibility for being a truly beneficial plant which has never killed a single person.
We're not hear to sway you one way or another, but here are some interesting facts which you may enjoy reading. Rest assured there are no lies here. No spin doctoring. Just facts, whether you like them or not.

Great story. I now have legitimate sources to support the legalization of marijuana. I especially appreciate the statistic that marijuana causes a "negative doorway" effect, resulting in LESS cocaine and meth users rather than more. If pot was legal, I'd even give up alcohol and coffee, two substances which prove to be more unhealthy and unsafe than marijuana in several cases.

I used to wonder if I'd get high all of my life, or if I'd reach an age where I would find it juvenile and unsatifying. I'm quite confident that this day will not come. Some of my most beautiful recollections of passing time in places foreign and unique occurred under the influence of marijuana. I remember walking the streets of amsterdam, making sense of coastal Thailand, listening to Gram Parsons while walking through the East Village.
It really is a lovely drug, much better than any chemical pharmaceutical pushed on us. I mean, it is a naturally occurring plant. We're feeding our children processed trash for school lunches, but we can't enjoy a plant that reduces stress with a mild side effect of getting hungry for BBQ fritos? I declare drug laws Ridiculus! -
it's not a drug . calling it one is how the gov't manages to criminalize it .

Prohibition laws criminalizing Cannabis were racist in nature at their inception and are racist in nature today.

Industrialists and the pharmaceutical industry are so afraid of Cannabis/hemp discussion, they have implemented drug tests (made by pharmaceutical companies) to be able to get a job. Today in America you have to urinate in a cup to be able to get a job. Pharmaceutical drugs are acceptable. If you have a prescription drug in your system, you are good to go. If you have cannabis in your system, even if it is done in the privacy of your own home, you are disqualified from employment? It's an 'Assault on Reason'!

Just to add something different than the usual "I love pot" comments.
There are some negative effects from Cannabis. For example, emphysema, which is caused by any smoke inhalation; giving an inflammatory reaction and releasing elastase in the lungs. Work ethic would take a huge hit if herb was part of mainstream culture and smoked as regularly as say, cigarettes. And detriment to memory, which I can personally attest to.
I personally despise the 'War on Drugs' as it is racist (12% of users are Black, although they represent 70% of those sent to jail for it), costly ($45.5 billion in 2005), and counterintuitive to my beliefs. But as always, the good must be weighed with the bad.
In Germany, we allow small amounts to be carried (4.5 grams) and alcohol use is granted before the drivers license.-

Emphysema is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), formerly termed a chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD). It is often caused by exposure to toxic chemicals or long-term exposure to "tobacco" smoke. please take your misinformation elsewhere.

I do believe that they have now shown that pot does NOT cause emphysema.
From: http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/
"Fact: Moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains a number of irritants and carcinogens. But marijuana users typically smoke much less often than tobacco smokers, and over time, inhale much less smoke. As a result, the risk of serious lung damage should be lower in marijuana smokers. There have been no reports of lung cancer related solely to marijuana, and in a large study presented to the American Thoracic Society in 2006, even heavy users of smoked marijuana were found not to have any increased risk of lung cancer. Unlike heavy tobacco smokers, heavy marijuana smokers exhibit no obstruction of the lung's small airway. That indicates that people will not develop emphysema from smoking marijuana."

I believe all the evidence that suggests this comes from places with an interest in keeping it illegal.
