I feel for this guy and his family, but that industrial model of agriculture has got to stop. Monocropping, feedlots, fertilizers, pesticides, most likely GM corn and soybeans, skipping rotations because of market fluctuations... It's a damn shame.

Hey man, really like the subject manner. In the future consider adding some music and also having the guy show you some of the things he's talking about rather then going for B role. Makes a more interesting shot an doesn't make it quite as slow. Good flick though.-

Back when farmers were only getting $1.00 a bushel for their product, they complained about the price and the market speculators and they were told to get together and find your own markets and create your own markets for corn. So they did that. They found that as OPEC kept squeezing the market place for a higher price for their unreplaceable commodity (oil), the corn farmers market place for their corn product gained in price.
Now that the market price for corn can be $5.00 and $6.00 a bushel the farmers seem to be labeled as the bad guys. They are accused of driving up the price of corn and causing people to starve to death. I contend that at $1.00 a bushel for corn, people weren't eating the corn. It was classified as an industrial commodity and animal feed. How come we have to be so ignorant as to let the media tell us, over and over again, that people are starving because the price is too high. People weren't eating corn then, and they are not eating it now.
All down through the years I have heard the media tell us that nuclear power is dangerous and unsafe and that corn as ethanol is stealing food from the mouths of starving children. All this issue is, is just another "wedge" issue that is being used to make us easier to control because we are just finding another issue to disagree on.
And the fossil fuel industries just keep fighting and scaping to continue to be the fuel of choice and keeps on messing up the environment.
