  • Uh ok. So can anyone tell me what happened? My audio software is all messed up and I cant hear it = (
And I was expecting to see a smackdown in the spin zone, not two old guys arguing looking like apes.
  • Was it ever really a fair fight. To Match wits with Bill is to face an unarmed opponent.

  • Interesting. I didn't think Bill got his ass kicked though.

  • Phil Donahue is an American Hero! I don't watch fox news, so I missed Phil Donahue. Sad!

I tune in any time I see he is on a program. I would have put on fox had I known he was on. Bill O'Reilly is what is wrong with American thinking. He's a spinner, distorting facts whenever necessary to support this administration.

Phil Donahue is 'A Voice of Reason'! Phil Donahue 'speaks for me'!

  • I'd love to witness Cindy Sheeham kick O'Reilly's ass live on national television. What a chickenshit , give him a rifle and drop him off in Bagdad, oh and don't forget the cape! What a bullshit artist. The nerve. Donahue should have cleaned his clock! O'Reilly is clearly very very Afraid. it's hysterical. Fox News Sucks too. Kudo's to Phil Donahue! Big Up's. Home of the free and land of the Brave... Bill O'Chickenshit.

  • this is a bit old, but still great nonetheless. Bill is a jackass. he is just doing what he is told, he is so biased. His clips are hilarious. He is a very angry manand i dont really know how he is still on the air. But Rupert Murdoch owns the media and controls it and probably pays this jerk tons of money to spread propaganda.

  • I've always thought she was an idiot for going to certain spots that was unnecessary. Her son died because he wanted to be in the army. HE wanted to go and SHE is mad at the government?

I think war is stupid. Period. Going into the army is SUPPORTING war. Period. I will not disrespect people who decide to do that, that's their decision, but I will not feel sorry for them dying for what they wanted to do.

Her upset is reasonable for losing a son. But she really sucks at directing it correctly.

Donahue talks and talks and talks and talks over Bill and Bill talks and talks and talks over Donahue. Donahue doesn't give someone else a chance to talk. He's nearly as bad as who he's upset over and he sits there and says "oh you just say this and this and this" and then when Bill says what that woman says Donahue goes, "she did not mean it."

I can't stand people who cannot be consistent and even.

I wanted them both to shut up.

AND all war is bad. Not just this one. ALL.

  • I love Phil Donahue.

  • With all the yelling. It wasn't really about what points you had. It was more what points were the loundest.
i wish they would just keep it mellow. or maybe just make a pro/con list.

  • A while ago I changed my cable package and lost FOX... I haven't seen a good swoosh in weeks.

There is no win in Iraq.
  • I still miss the Donahue show. Cindy is a patriot and we're not worthy. Even though this is old, it's interesting. Jeremy Glick does deserve an apology, but that will never happen.

  • O'Reilly sure has a distorted view of reality, poor man needs help.

  • 2,000 American deaths? It passed 4,000 recently... so it hasn't doubled- it quadrupled.

  • Bill didn't get his ass kicked. What everyones seeing as an ass kicking is people listening to what they want to and not what is really said. If Bill was arguing with Osama then half of you would side with Osama simply because hes arguing with Bill. Bill is a true patriot. And I agree, any American that calls Iraqi insergens "freedom fighters" (freedom fighters that kill American soldiers) is by no means patriotic or worth the time of day. Besides, when Donahue said bill didn't understand what it was like to have a loved one in the army it was Bill that was kicking Donahue's ass.

  • 20013294, you are as bad as O'Reilly, assuming that just because we don't like O'Reilly's narrow point of view then we must automatically be terrorist-loving idiots. I think Cindy Sheehan's "freedom fighter" comment was in poor taste and I don't agree with it. But does that discredit everything she is fighting for? No. And does that mean that I even LIKE her? Not necessarily. Not everyone has such a one-dimensional and knee-jerk reaction to the world like O'Reilly.

  • Thank you Phil Donahue! You still tell it like it is and you're still right on the money as usual. Pointing out big FAT items like the fact that the Congress is the only body in our government allowed to start a war by LAW and that the Constitution of the United States of America is the most important document of law on the Earth.

He's gotta feel sad sometimes that the progeny of the talk-show industry which he helped take into the mainstream (running the Phil Donahue Show for SO many years -- discussing realistic and responsible subjects) have evolved into creatures like the flatulent blow-hards at Fox. Faux as I like to call it.

  • Bill caters to people who have decided to let other people do their thinking for them. Neither of them really listen to each other. This clip makes me sad for all of us.
    twggyy
  • Wow. That was the first political debate i actually enjoyed.
  • If Phil Donahue and O'Reilly cant be civil enough to not talk/scream over each other, why should we respect or egnoledge any thing they have to say. Thats not how you act on national television.

  • O'Reily is one of millions of Americans who still believe winning in Iraq is a tangible notion. No one can define what winning will look like.

  • This is a very old video. We know Bill O'Reilly is a miserable human being and Phil Donahue is great. I just regret that MSNBC silenced Phil to avoid criticizing the fucking war. Watch Phil's new movie. "Body of War." I've only seen bits and pieces, but what I've seen will make you laugh and cry and will make it impossible for you to do nothing about this war.

  • Very good, old video clip. And yes, O'Riley gets spanked in this discussion. Not conceding a valid point that is made by your opponent in an argument is not a strength, nor is attempting to subtly change the subject. Yet Bill attempts to do these things a few times in the clip. I must admit though that I am surprised that Bill did not have anyone cut Phil's mic. That is the usual pattern that Bill follows when an argument does not go his way (which is quite often).

Now, 200131294. Your name is a pain in the ass to type. I have no idea what you were thinking, but typing your name just once makes it annoying to try to reply to what you have said on the threads.

Moving on to what you actually said about the clip.

I do not agree that Iraqi Insurgents are freedom fighters, but there is the adage that one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. The middle east has gotten the short end of the stick from the western world for decades all because the middle east is a oil rich area. During the time that this clip was made, it probably wasn't unreasonable for the Iraqi people to think that we were occupying the country just so we, as a western power, could put some sheik in power and fuck the lower class people so we could have our oil fix. Under those perceived circumstances we would be aiding or placing in power the oppressors and therefor anyone who fought us could be considered freedom fighters. Does that mean that we really were trying to screw over the people of Iraq? No; however they have no way of knowing that considering how we first treated them when we invaded and also considering how they have been treated by the western world in the past.

When Phil was talking about how Bill doesn't know what its like to have a loved one in the army, it was not Bill kicking Phil's ass. So Bill has a nephew in the army. Whoop de goddamn do. If I look for relations of either cousins, or uncles, or second relatives that I'm not even really aware of, then I'm sure I could find someone in the army. If Bill really wanted to drive the point home, he'd try to encourage his son or daughter to join the military and be a part of something patriotic. But no, its his nephew. So this brings up some questions. Here are some general ones. How often does Bill see his beloved nephew? Does Bill often visit and/or talk with his nephew? Does Bill get along with his nephew? For all we know his sibling could have called him up and said, "Oh, and our son joined the army." while having a discussion on the phone and Bill knows nothing more than that. Besides, I am pretty sure that Bill's reaction would be different if one of his children enlisted and died over there for the country as opposed to his reaction if his nephew died over there for the country.

Oh, I am also wondering, if you are a watcher of the O'Reilly Factor, do you actually pay attention to what Bill says and what happens on his show, or do you just sit there and nod in agreement? I ask because if you actually pay attention to the show you will notice that Bill is not only an angry man who needs to cut people off mid sentence and disable their mic to win a debate, but he is also a pathological lair. He has lied numerous times about how he either never says "shut up" or how he rarely uses it. He also has a habit of lying about some of his guests whom are more verbally forceful witty enough to work around his mic cutting trick when he does a recap of previous shows. Truly, he is a man to be admired and praised.

  • Altough i don't agree with O'Reilly, he sure knows how to get to an interesting discussion within less than a minute, no matter who he is facing.

  • This was way back from 2006, why is it here now?
Also, I really don't like any of these people. Both are way to extreme to either side. Though I don't really like O'Reilly cause of his extreme right, I don't think he got his assed kicked, and he was a bit more moderate and objectional then Donahue.

  • Donahue was trying to box O'Reilly by asking him if he wants more American soldiers killed in Irak.

That was such an old tactic and an insult to the audience. Of course no one is for soldiers to die in Irak.

15000 Americans die of Aids every year. No one talks about it.

What is your point Donahue ?

  • not even BIlly believes all the BULL SHIT they tell him to say

  • Interesting how he says "dissent" like a dirty word. Good job Donahue.

  • O'Reilly says "those people deserve freedom" referring to Iraqis.

    I must agree with him.

They deserve freedom from corporate / oil occupation made possible by the United States military and war for profit companies like Haliburton and Blackwater.
