The uncommitted votes of Michigan shall go to Obama but Clinton supporters are not happy to say the least, some yelling "Denver, Denver". A Clinton BLC supporter named Howard Ikies said, "the votes have been hijacked".
The plan was offered Saturday by Mark Brewer, the chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party. He asked the committee to award Mrs. Clinton 69 delegates and Mr. Obama 59 – a rough estimate of the results, assigning the “uncommitted” tally to Mr. Obama, whose name was not on the ballot.

They are about as fair as they can be considering the mess. I'm proud of the job they did.
-
Now that this is settled let us go forward and win the general. Yes, we can!

For every Democrat that may defect, we'll get two Republican's joining - so don't you worry.
-
I'm just sick to death of Hillary Miss I'm more important than the whole damned election. Tuesday I pray to God that the super delegates all come out for Obama. Maybe then she will get the hell out of it. Hasn't she got an ounce of pride? Never mind, she doesn't.

They are not happy because Clinton didn't come out on top for cheating by leaving her name on the ballot when she knew they weren't going to be counted. Then she whined. Then they did this mess and now that they are finished Clinton and supports are still not pleased.
First of all the entire taking away delegates was dumb. They should have just let the state do as they wish or stick to their guns. Weak party for that and weak party for allowing this circus to continue. -
We should question anyone who claims to be a Democrat and declares they'd vote for mcVain instead of the Democratic candidate - Obama.
Traitors in our midst? Republican plants?
Why is the Republican party soooooo desperate to have Hillary nominated? Because they know they can destroy her (what more skeletons are in her closet that we haven't seen yet?) - but don't have the same leverage against Obama.
Obama is strong - he's been vetted very thoroughly and he is the guy!
If you care about your party and your country - vote for Obama in "08. -
Who people decide to vote for and why is their own decision. If someone wants to look at the serious issues facing this country and the stark contrast between how Obama and McCain would address those issues and then decides to cast their vote based on this dispute over Michigan and Florida...that is their right. But then don't come complaining when the troops are still in Iraq (or worse Iran). The wealthiest people in the country still are enjoying Bush's tax cuts. The jobs are still heading overseas. We don't have any serious national health care system. The climate crisis is still being paid lip service. And Roe v. Wade is overturned.
-
The tax cut argument is illogical. Tax the rich and they'll pass it on. See what happens when gas goes up and the companies have to pay more for transport? What do they do? They pass it on to the consumer.
-
Hillary needs to quit being a stubborn bitch and give up already. That's all I have to say about this.
-
wow. it must suck to be from Michigan. first Detroit loses to Boston and now their vote gets halved.

It will depend a lot on how Hillary behaves, and it doesn't look like she is going to step up to the plate. Maybe people will get over it and consider the consequences. This is insane.

The rules committee has spoken. It's time to get this behind us and focus on getting a Democrat into the White House. We can no longer afford to be divided.
-
Michigan shouldn't have broken the rules. Imagine if Detroit had just decided to start the game an hour before Boston had arrived at the arena. Think the NBA would have just decided to over look it? I don't think so.
Sorry Jammer...I think trickle down economics is crap. Repeal Bush's Tax cuts for the the wealthiest people and give greater breaks to the middle class. Strengthening the middle class with tax breaks, better jobs and affordable health care it the smartest way to get this country back on track. The rich have it easy enough. -
Apparently the deal passed 19-8. Thirteen members of the committee supported Clinton, so she wasn't even able to keep her supporters together
I think that's saying something -
I LIVE in Michigan and I'm friggen pissed about this. How can Hillary possibly be rewarded with more delegates for breaking her own party's rules and pandering to Michigan Democrats? Hell, they should just give the nomination to Obama for all this bullshit she's pulling us through.
p.s. Tax cuts and trickle down theory are not a Republican concept. They're economic tools that were around long before our modern neocons decided to claim it as their own. I agree, they tend to use them in an unethical way, but it is an objective economic tool nonetheless. Raising/lowering government spending, buying/selling bonds, and even raising taxes are the same way. It's kind of comical for people who've studied economics to watch it become a partisan issue. You may as well pick sides on how to solve a differential equation; the math is the math either way.-

While this is a decent compromise, it should put a glaring spotlight on the archaic process that we still use to determine power in this country. Something has to change.
-
oh, god. not another sports analogy.
alright, when you say, Michigan, do you mean Michigan voters? because last i checked, they weren't the ones who broke the rules. i'm pretty sure it was the Rebuplicans that moved up the election.
yeah, i understand the need to follow rules, but don't you think the punishment for breaking these rules should at least make sense? i just think this punishement seems a bit undemocratic and extremely counterproductive.
i won't even mention the fact that New Hampshire and North Carolina broke the very same rules you all are so fond of.-

NOW can we focus our collective energies on McCain and November?
-
Sorry for the sports analogy pants...I was just following your lead. How did North Carolina and New Hampshire break the rules? New Hampshire is one of the states in the group of four and North Carolina just had their primary on May 6th.
The rule that was broken was that no state would move their primary before the four states that the DNC and all the candidates agreed should vote first (Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina). Only two states broke that rule...Michigan and Florida. -
stupid people.
-
Here's the pledge that all the candidates agreed to...ironically from the Senator Clinton's website. -
whoops. i meant South Carolina.
you're right. the DNC allowed for South Carolina, Iowa, and New Hampshire to move up their elections. so technically, the rules were not broken. they were just... changed... for South Carolina, Iowa, and New Hampshire.
but my main argument was this:
there is nothing fair or democratic about 30 people deciding to halve the votes of 2 million people.
it's certainly not something to celebrate.-

This problem should have never happened. A system of rotation should decide as to which state votes first. To allow this problem to split the party in half is a shame.
-
I knew this was a kangaroo court as soon as the committee members brought up Affirmative Action.
-
I think Clinton's camp is just heated and it will change its tune in a day or two. They just don't get it, there is 10 seconds left in the game, and they are down by three touchdowns, impossible to win, even if they get the onside kick.
It almost proves, that she puts herself ABOVE the democratic party, and the U.S.A., very selfish and desperate.-

Seems fair, all things considered.

I'm from Michigan, and we ALL (yes, you too Florida) knew what we were getting into from the start. To decry this as some attempt to undermine your right to vote is the equivalent of the jerk in the H3 who runs through the red light and then gets pissed at the police officer for giving him a ticket. I agree whole-heartedly that the system the Democratic Party has is overly complicated and could do with some MAJOR reforms. However, there are channels to do such things - you can't just break the rules you don't agree with and expect to be accommodated. We should be happy that ANY of them were counted.
-
I'm remembering the dust up during the 2000 election where "count every vote" was the mantra. Now we have the Democrat leadership apportioning votes after they are cast. I read about this stuff and am 120% certain that if the Republicans pulled this the comments from the Dem side would be very loud. Why even have an election when a party leadership can manipulate the results. Don't go citing the 2000 Florida election results as a counter. One has nothing to do with the other. This is strictly about the Dems.
During the New Jersey governor vote some years ago the republican candidate was ahead. The Dem candidate was pulled and Corzine was put on the ticket after the deadline forthis to happen. Nothing said.
Those who support Hussein may want to question why. Part of his platform is that he will bring the country together. Look at what is happening within his own party. Given the actions of the Dem leadership one may assume that he is, sorta, bringing the country together. Of course it would be in the same way Lincoln held the country together in 1861- at the point of a gun. With the apportioning of the delegates going on the way it is the writing is on the wall. The Dems will bully and rewrite until the predetermined result is in. That predetermined result is Hussein in the White House. This is reminiscent of the actions in a third world country. -
Paratus, Your use of Obama's middle name in a derogatory manner shows that you are unable to come to terms with the Democratic process. It looks like he will be the nominee. You and Hillary need to learn to accept the will of the people.
-
Hussein is an Arabic name which is the diminutive of Hasan, meaning "good" or "handsome". It is commonly given as a male given name among Muslims, after Husayn ibn Ali, although the name is SO COMMON it is also given to persons of SECULAR backgrounds.

That's a cool rug in the picture.

Can we all agree the Obama has finally... won the nomination?
(Knock on wood) -
Surely people must realize that another Clinton in office would be would be more of the same old rhetoric. It would only be an additional four years with perhaps potential for more depending. Which of course is fine if you don't mind more of the same old bs.
The only reason people seem to think that voting Clinton is a good idea is because she lays claims to economic stability due to her husbands so called "good track record" in the 90's. If I am not mistaken, according to Allan Greenspan, the fact of the matter is that we just so happened to be in an economic upswing from the results of previous years.
The truth is hidden in history.
Once upon a time, Mrs. Clinton may have had a genuine interest in our fair nations and its native inhabitants. In the beginning she appears to have meant to institute a national health care system, that is until before the fall when she was offered an attractive sum of money by big pharm to see things differently and look the other way at which point she turned her political ambitions to other more so seemingly "trivial" issues. (see fahrenheit 9/11). Apparently, everybody has a price.
However, don't let her pull the wool over your eyes.
Another Clinton in office would only mean a continuation of the Bush/Clinton dynasty.
What ever happened to Democratics?
Oh wait it was corrupted by human nature. Greed. lol.
The facts are all there, for those who have eyes to see, one just has to look for them. However they are not easily discovered when they are carefully obscured by those who have a monopoly on truth. Why else would knowledge come at such a great cost?
Everything happens for a reason; there are no mistakes in politics. Each step is carefully measured and coldly calculated. Look at our last election and the endlessly ensuing war in Iraq resulting in a war of attrition; war for money and thousands of it. i.e.(Blackwater, Halliburton, etc.). Amongst many others, such is the stuff of corporate empires. War mongering, war profiteering all made at the expense of human life. In reality no one benefits from bloody killing conquests it takes a toll on us all. One might say it has a trickle down effect.
When it comes to our Nations future and Hillary Clinton in Office, "I just don't want to see that happen." ~Clinton. (no pun intended).
Change is good.
Vote for a change.
Obama '08
...Chances are, the odds are in our favor. -
Hillary isn't done sucking yet? Go away suckubus!
