United States automobile giant Ford will be developing a new factory close to Mexico City. The new plant will be a huge blow to American workers who were hopeful that the new factory will be developed in the U.S.

  • hey working class whites, i know you all support hillary and think obama is an out of touch "elitist" , but you can personally thank the clinton administration for sending your job to mexico. remember that little thing called NAFTA? yea, well its the worst thing to ever happen to the middle class in the history of the united states of america. yet the working class union white voters (of which i am one) continue to support the clintons? why, i have no fucking clue

  • Globalization has destroyed many local jobs and has advanced the amount of exploitation across the globe. The jobs this plant is supposed to be "creating" is only allowing more folks to be exploited and giving them low wages to work longs hours with no benefits.

  • I'm not sure why American workers were hopeful of a new plant being built here when Ford just announced that it was cutting 12 percent of it's U.S. workforce.

Anyway, though it's unfortunate I suppose it's fitting that the Fiesta will be built in Mexico. I wonder which of Lou Dobbs's feelings will be stronger, his anger that more U.S. jobs are being exported or his enjoyment in the fact that Mexicans now have a greater incentive to stay in Mexico?

  • Ford went to Mexico, General Motors went there long time ago. Who makes cars in America? Honda, Toyota? Thanks Bush/Clinton. May you all develop hemorrhoids that itch at the most inopportune times.
  • This does not correspond well with "going green". So the car manufacturers are going somewhere that has cheap wages, but how does this affect alternative approaches to transportation?

  • Here is a bit more info on this topic.

Do something before we end up migrating to Mexico for work.

  • Mexico wouldn't allow anyone to enter their country illegally. Just ask the people who try from Central America.

  • perhaps if unions hadn't driven american wages so high over the years car companies could actually afford to have plants in the U.S.? I know people that get paid 100,000+ a year to sit in an office and answer a phone 3 times a day as a part of there union job. I am not saying the union is all bad but perhaps it got a little out of control at some point?

  • Gasp! A multi-national corporation doing something to improve it's profit, regardless of the consequences? Preposterous! Unheard of!

  • Don't blame the unions. We got a middle class because of labor unions. Japan pays better than we do, and has better health care too. Not too many union jobs where you sit in an office answering a phone either. Place the blame where it belongs. NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, and we don't have tariffs anymore so our companies can leave taking our jobs them bring the crap back in with no duty and sell it to us. Crooked politicians sold us out. It started with Reagan and has continued unabated to this day. While we got to real news about what was taking place because Reagan, and Clinton allowed six corporations to own the entire media. It was not the unions.
  • i didnt know ford still made cars, dont see too many on the road anymore. i have never owned a ford and now i definately will never own one.
we need to boycott all these companies leaving the usa

  • If we boycott the companies leaving the USA, we wouldn't be able to buy a darn thing...
    TyMarshal
  • Then don't buy anything.
  • It's not surprising news, to say the least. Ford doesn't want to lose any money, so they go to a cheaper place like Mexico. It's not like Ford, has some kind of ''special'' attraction to Americans, they are business that wants money.

  • Ford may think moving to Mexico to get cheaper labor is a good move. There are people that will boycott them for their sheer greed. Henry Ford realized that his workers needed to make enough money to afford to buy his car. They seem to have forgotten that. Let them sell their cars and trucks to Mexico.
  • Corporations, the people sitting on their asses getting a dividend check.
  • This is the way of the future. As things get more costly, and they find cheaper ways to do so, it will be harder for companies to backtrack and do anything in the interest of public opinion or public service. Greed is the name of the game.
