  • That is beautiful. Utopia is so small.

  • Look closely at the names of the cities on the map. Notice that Moscow, Baghdad, and Bejing are in Tyranny-land.

    look closer.
  • This map is not accurate.

The sizes of the continents are all off, and "Abomination" certainly doesn't have the high land

I know for a fact that Utopia is a much bigger place
  • Los Angeles and New Orleans are in "Hedonism"
  • Rio De Janeiro, New Orleans and Amsterdam all cozied up together in that bay? Oh s___!

  • easy there, celestialceiling, turn off the "i'm offended" switch. obviously, everyone has their respective viewpoints and you can see that this piece reflects certain opinions that not everyone would agree with.

i'm sure that we would all change up the places on this map according to our own thinking, but that's not even what I care about to be honest.

just take it as art for a second.

it's one piece, it was created by one guy, a graphic designer, who yes, has certain views about the world. but it's awesomely detailed. it's creative, it's intriguing, it's brilliant.

    it's just art, homes, relax.
  • Astounding. Of course, I disagree with some of the city placement, but it was the artists choice and their perspective. Really really amazing.

  • A new view of the earth through an imperfect lens. Wish the artist had consulted with a few more people about the political nature of the image. Zion in an area called truth? I don't think so. Should have named the area bastard child of the third reich.
  • Awesome!

  • a lot of effort was put into this map. It is certainly better than what I could have done.

  • What's amazing is that someone took the time to create this as though one can lump populations into silos of attitudes and single personalities. Waste of time and a gross misrepresentation of humanity - in both meanings of the word.

  • I don't think art is a waste of time. Whether you agree or not, art makes you think. Getting angry over art is proof positive that the art worked ;)

  • I can only imagine the haze of smog around where Detroit and Hong Kong share the same area.

  • Can you buy this as a poster??

  • I like this a lot, but why those specific land forms? why those shapes? why that arrangement?
    stephenthomson
  • I like it a lot too. I think it could be updated in the future.

    I like Celestial City :)
  • thedismembermentplan,
    You have offered me a...
Brilliant representation of your feeble planet...
A better tool to help align those targets of mine...
I remain steadfast in keeping you Puny Humans in line...
    Thanks for the help...

  • The Dymaxion map of the Earth is a projection of a global map onto the surface of a polyhedron, which can then be unfolded to a net in many different ways and flattened to form a two-dimensional map which retains most of the relative proportional integrity of the globe map. It was created by Buckminster Fuller, and patented by him in 1946.

It hasn't been in widespread use since then though

  • I'm not really sure- I'd like to be able to see all the writing- the placement of 'elysium' confused me- bc i thought that meant heaven (or a spot in heaven for the heroic)...?

  • This is a very interesting depiction of the state of humanity.
  • seattle is in the state of "freedom"

  • i think the idea of putting real places on the map fools with it a bit, nice idea but the more i read the map the more i disliked it

  • This is pretty cool map that has opinion woven with creative thought and visually exhausting information. Wow.

  • not feelin' it. nice try though.

  • So interesting.

I just don't understand why certain cities are on the map multiple times. Obviously this is intentional, but I think it takes away from the purpose of the work.

  • I get that its a different type of map, (dymaxion?) but I can't read it for the life of me...any help on where Calgary Alberta is??? .....or Canada for that matter haha

  • It's righttt to the left of the word "Tranquility" :] you might have to squint though!

  • It seems to me to be about separatism. Every place is labeled good or bad, perfect or imperfect.

I think it says together we stand divided we fall.

    Just my opinion though.

  • I looked all over Lies land and didn't find Washington D.C.

    Did anyone else find it?

  • so awsome and true! I LOVE the detail!!

  • I can see where the artist was coming from; not trying to group together the people living in each place, but trying to personify the cities themselves. As far as I can see, the placement of the cities is not only the artist's point of view, it is also the stereotypes that we have created through history and culture.

  • I hear the Brutality Islands are nice in the summer

but then again the city of McDonalds sounds quite tempting!

  • nice

  • where is new york??
    lc81391
  • new york is to the left of "compassion".. what a load..

the thing that i find annoying about this is that.. a map is supposed to be factual and representative.. and the artist subjects the informative nature of a map to his own personal viewpoints..

it seems more like propaganda than art..

then again, propaganda is a form of art..
