Strippers arrested, lap dances ruined (temporarily)

For some ridiculous reason, Texas has a law that forbids strippers from getting within 3-feet of their customers. (Do you know how far 3-feet is when boobs are involved?) And according to TheSmokingGun.com, because of this completely impractical law, they busted 18 innocent–I’m sure–women yesterday, who forgot to pack a tape measure in their g-string.

Way to go Texas! You're running neck and neck with Florida for having the wackiest/trashiest news.

  • I lived in Bible-belt Houston for two years. It's amazing. The same Bible totin', decency advocates are the same ones you'll find in the thousands of strip club available on every corner you turn. You can look, but you can't touch. De hypocrites dem!

  • The bible-thumping moralists are worse than the polygamist Mormons. At least the Polygamists isolate themselves from the "evil influences". The moralists want to do the reverse, and then call that isolation "prison".

  • damn, that sucks. Shes too hott for jail. We need to start an uprising against this law in Texas for the name of mankind!

  • As I recently said on the "smoking display ban" thread: Way to go... Keep legislating morality!

    Ridiculous!

  • Being a Texan born and raised, I am ashamed to have to admit that Texas raises bumper crops of hypocrites. I am sure that's a contributing reason for my living in Santa Fe, NM these days. God help us crazy Texans get our heads out of the sand, or wherever else we have them, and "live, and let live!"

  • This revelation totally rearranges my coast-to-coast strip club tour.

  • Hey god dammit you leave Florida out of this. I know we have a bad image but in her defense we have all nude strip clubs, steak house/strip clubs and full contact lap dances. So screw Texas and move to Florida. We have better pot anyways.

  • Awww, darn, I guess I won't be applying at a strip club anytime soon then.

  • Both Washington and Oregon have similar '4 foot' laws. Those are the only two other states that I know of.

  • Not surprisingly, one of the arrestees bears an uncanny resemblence to the morning anchorwoman at our local NBC affiliate...

  • I dunno, in terms of ugly-ness, they could be a hell of a lot worse. It was only really the last 5 or 6 that were kinda.. *woof*...

  • As Americans, we have a very strange set of moral standards. You can watch a movie like Die Hard on prime time TV with it's copius supply of graphic violence and killing, but the censors delete all the curse words! We can't tolerate a public nipple slip but revel in shows like CSI and Cops that, despite their crime fighting formats, revel in graphic depictions of gruesome murders, mayham and chaos. We allow 18 year old kids to go and die in a fucked up war yet refuse to allow them to go into a bar and order a beer. So the fact that Texas allows you to watch a woman dance naked but prohibits her from entering within 3 feet of the patrons is pretty much in keeping with the twisted and hypocritcal set of rules and regulations that we Americans love to tout as our "moral values".

  • Everyone forces their moral views on other people. The comments in here are forcing their moral views upon what is right and wrong about 3 feet and who is hot or not.

    Now that's hypocritical.

  • Floridian here, still not enjoying the pasties on our strippers.

  • So what happens if they start out 3' away but the guy is really "ENJOYING" the show and the distance gets suddenly shortened by several inches '-)

  • Ive lived in Dallas my whole life and Houston for 3 years. Trust me the strip clubs are poppin in both places. I dont know why they arrested those girls, but im sure it had more to do with drugs or prostitution going on in the establishment, and these arrest were just a warning to the management. These kinds of things happen all the time. Alot of strip clubs in dallas have been getting in trouble for prostitution and xtc trafficing latley.

We have all nude places too, VIVA LA CLUBHOUSE!

  • at least they got nice lookin strippers...i support the cause! i donate my money y'all
    flipriza
  • They "busted" 18 strippers? :-)

Die Hard gets bleeped for language, but it's OK for our president to give a middle finger salute while on camera and for our veep to tell a colleague on the senate floor, "Fuck you"?

A kid who robs a 7-11 of a few bucks does hard time, while the Enron creeps and Martha Stewart and such enjoy a brief vacation at "Club Fed."

And did I mention? The Bush administration are guilty of violating international law, violating the Geneva Conventions, violating U.S. law, violating the U.S. Constitution....

I'm with Vincent Bugliosi, the man who prosecuted Charles Manson for killing a half-dozen people. He says that Bush should not just be impeached, but tried for murder in an international tribunal.

If a half-dozen deaths net Manson a life sentence, then what should Bush get for more than 4,100 deaths of Americans, all the deaths suffered by so-called "coalition" forces, and the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians?

  • being from california and going to school in texas, there have been a bunch of laws that have created a bit of a culture shock, but this one really does baffle me. how unnecissarily conservative can they be? it seems to me these police had nothing better to do than arrest strippers for coming closer than 3 feet to customers..what did they do...use a yard stick?

  • There's been a 3 foot law in Nashville for 2-3 years now and Not only do the girls have to be fully clothed (top and bottoms) if within 3 feet of the customer there is also the 0 contact rule. No two private areas are to be touching. That includes the girls touching eachother. And to spice things up all the girls have to have an entertainers licensce.(sp?) Oh and yes the fee for the ID does put a dent in the little crown royal bag.

    Darevalo

Customers roll the bills up and throw them at the girls. (Not witty enough to be funny)

And the Occasional someone "makes it rain".

    Yep.
