On Thursday, May 8th, 2008 at 7pm a San Francisco Town Hall Meeting was held in the Conservatory of Flowers of Golden Gate Park. A panel of speakers was present to inform the public why we need to OPPOSE the aerial spraying of California against the misclassifid LBAM (Light Brown Apple Moth). The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is doing everything in its power to squash our voices and efforts. There is big money involved in this for them as they stand to lose trade partners and hence their lies and absolute insistence at spraying us. But we will NOT be silenced!
This is the first in a series of thirteen videos. This video features Town Hall organizer and concerned mother Kelly McMenimen and San Francisco District 11 Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval.

Hello Everyone,
Here in San Francisco, we are threatened with the very real possibility of being aerially sprayed with a synthetic pheromone/pesticide cocktail that is an actual registered EPA pesticide. The spray is made up of tiny microcapsules that are so small they can penetrate deep lung tissue.
The State's excuse and reason for such a horrible and dangerous act that got hundreds, if not thousands, of people sick in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties when they were indeed sprayed without consent? To eradicate the Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM), a moth that has been classified as a Class A pest which they claim will cause billions of dollars worth of crop damage and that has, per their outlandish and ever changing claims, recently arrived in California.
Entomologists and other scientists are all crying foul, attesting to the fact that the moth is a leaf roller, that it does NOT feed on the crop and fruit and cause ANY damage whatsoever and that, furthermore, has been in the state for decades.
The spray is highly toxic and its ingredients are known carcinogens, mutagens and neurotoxins. It has never been tested and yet, is scheduled to be sprayed over millions of private citizens. It is the first time in US history that such a high concentration of pesticides is to be sprayed over a human population. The consequences will be dire and the spray is horrifically dangerous.

What am I asking of you? Vote on my videos, LIKE AWAY and help me in exposing the CDFA as the media does nothing but kill the story and we need for people to know the truth.
HELP US, here in the greater Bay Area and stop the madness and stand up for our human and environmental rights.
Thank you...-

Very good Public Information Miz! I am not surprised about some Agencies doing this without consulting the Public or the Most affected inhabitants in the City at first hand. There are a lots of Agencies operating in the City that needs a great fresh up of Education as the basic respect for our Citizens has gone down the tubes.

Question: Who picked the "head" of the CDFA?
Anyone know? I'm just curious that way. -
Governor Schwarzenegger appointed A.G. Kawamura as secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture in November 2003. Secretary Kawamura is a produce grower and shipper from Orange County, where his family grows strawberries, green beans and other specialty crops.
huntre, good question; here is the secretary bio of cdfa. -
UNIMOUSLY PASSED w00t!
San Francisco so kicks ass.
I miss The City.-
