We, as a nation, could learn a lot from these students. Amazing ...
-
arrest them and throw them all in guatanamo bay

If there is no disruption, Washington laughs and continues it's "business-as-usual", usually in direct juxtaposition to the best interests of We the People of these United States. That is why the Vietnam War was derailed-by massive action by We the People. In fact, we stopped Nixon from nuking North Vietnam, and he admitted so. These students got it right and we should pry our collective a$$es away from the DVR, the internet, the cable TV, and follow their example. Let's see them issue a "signing statement" against everyone uprising all at once...I don't think so.

I would love to ask the students who walked out and want peace if they ever got into an argument with their siblings or if they ever got into a physical fight with anyone.
Peace lovers tend to be not so peaceful in other walks of life. I don't respect those kinds of people. -
Damn, I wish my school was this cool.

Protests can be a powerful thing when used in the right way. Remember the Latino high school walkout of the 70s or the 60s, not sure of which decade,
-
This stuff is happening all over, no one is covering it. Off the top of my head I can think of three schools in the area that have had demonstrations.
No media is covering it because no one is doing anything other than attending. If we want to make this work we have to ignore people like J_Jammer and take action. Write congresspeople, hold teach ins, help people register to vote. We are the ones who need to change, not our leaders. -
The mass majority of all peace loving people are more violent than their counter-parts. Some of them are even counter productive.
The best people to emulate have already had success in getting the attention of their government and they are all throughout history.
Not one of them ever staged an educational coup. You cannot claim that education is important and then go off during that time to stand up for something you could very well stand up for any other time.
As you can see no one is covering it. They didn't do it right. Do a protest right, no one can ignore it. -

J_Jammer watch this episode of this american life
called two wars
ultimately it isn't about whether or not they could wait 30 minutes -
this really makes me think about the distribution of money in our government. If we can find money to kill people using high-tech weaponry, but it all seems to disappear when the citizens need it, then, what's the point of going to a public school, if all that were're doing is taking away money from your precious war.
after all, citizens come second, right? -
j jammer that's you're opinion. and, obviously, you're self-informed

It is great to see these kids keeping themselves informed and spreading their wings. Stay involved and talking about it AND vote when you turn 18!

Good for them. They would be the ones fighting it if we don't end this war, and stop attacking other countries. They are getting to voting age. It sounds like they might be better informed than some adults. We go kids!
-
It's nice to see that not all of the next generation has been brainwashed by the US government.
-
I wish this happened at my school
-
Peaceniks are more violent? Who is nuts here? Where do some people come up with these crazy pipedreams. It muts be in thier pipe or dreams. So I guess killers are more peaceful? Incredible. No wonder Bushie was able to steal the elections. With thinking like this anything is possible.

I believe that the students choice to leave class early may have been "unruly" but that was the point. Demonstrations like this need to happen more often. I know these kids were probably punished for leaving class early, but I bet they enjoyed every minute of it. Stand up America, if you aren't happy, dont hold your tongue. At work, at school, at your republican spouses family gatherings, anything. Waiting is no longer an option. Oh yeah, and by the way. J jammer, you are absolute idiot when it comes to making a point. Do you actually have anything to back your claims up, or are you just talking out of your ass?
its time for a revolution -
The only way to create change is to create a united front and it begins with the smallest actions. These kids are a perfect example of what people should be doing across the country, getting off their ass and doing something about it...not just complaining but doing.
