Clint suggests that Spike Lee "should shut his face", in response to Lee's charges that Eastwood did not use enough African American actors in his 'Flags of our Father's' film.

  • I agree with the gunslinger on this one. As much as I love Spike's work, I think he needs to STFU! Lee is comparing apples to oranges and judging Eastwood's peaches to his own plums. Both these giants are great movie makers who have filmographies of incredible, INCOMPARABLE work. Can't we just leave it at that?

  • I've heard enough Sharpton-like things out of Lee to be convinced he's a bit of a looney. Bearing that in mind, he could take another shot at "notice me" controversy and make a film about a black Abraham Lincoln who frees the whites. That'd put him back in the love/hate limelight, for sure.

  • One of Spike's skills is media spin. I don't always agree with him, but he's damn good at mixing things up and making people re-think things. Of course, he may just be a little jealous of Eastwood's spectacular Hollywood reputation. If Eastwood raises an eyebrow he gets an Oscar. And well deserved!

  • Sorry if this makes anyone upset. But Eastwood does misrepresent the War because there are no African Americans in either story when if you read and research there were constantly historic regiments of African Americans, Japanese, and Indian Americans that played major roles in those wars and are underrepresented. I still love Clint Eastwood though.

  • My vote is for Clint for President........

Consider the abundance of Black films, music videos and TV shows that contain a completely black cast without any whites at all, oddly this is not discrimination but widely accepted by blacks.
If a completely white movie, video or TV show was broadcast an outrage would be heard.

I'm tired of it all, politically correct has reached the point of incorrect. It is time to say "Shut your face"

I am sure Eastwood is detailed enough of a director/producer to reflect the true percentage of blacks and whites within the military at that time, should we re-write history to add more black faces whether they were there or not?? History is history, just because Spike Lee feels like he is a black god it doesn't mean that what he says is right.

The movie was not about race but about a pivotal point in the actual history of this country, are we suppose to add more blacks back to the beginning of this country, maybe todays population race ratios should be applied to the Declaration of Independence to add blacks and Spike Lee can add his signature then maybe he will be satisfied. How many of Lee's movies show a proportionate number of whites as in real life, maybe that is the question Clint should ask.

  • clint eastwood is a certified badass..

for a guy to come up the way that he did.. utilizing his rugged looks and cool demeanor as a launchpad to develop his own skills at directing movies.. and then choosing to make movies the way that he saw fit, ignoring whatever negativity came his way.. including this most recent bitterness and jealousy from spike lee..

you gotta love any 78 year old man telling another man to shut his face..
