Happening right now, and possibly bigger than the flood of 1913. I hope you all get out safely.

God bless you for that. Yes things are very very bad right now. My mother and stepdad just got home, but they can't reach it by car as there isn't a road anymore. its just gone. The devestation is widespread. There are literaly some towns that have disapeared under newly formed lakes. Dams that were never meant to be put under such stress in a landlocked state are failing. Please please keep us in your thoughts.

  • I am realy concerned right now. The levee in Martinsville where my Mother and Stepfather are right now is in danger of bursting and the town is already desperately flooded and all of the outgoing roads are blocked.

  • Columbus is very hard pressed now. Road access is being destroyed. Most state roads are washed out and bridges are collapsing as we speak. More than 100 patients are being evacuated by helicopter to hospitals across the state including Morgan County Medical Center where my mother is working right now. This is a major emergency that is worsening.

  • as a brief aside...i'm annoyed that all the 'major' news organizations are more preoccupied with Hillary's 'concession' speech (no disrespect Hillary) then they are concerned with the real-time peril that is affecting thousands of Americans in Indiana right now...i wish indiana was closer; i'd say come crash on my couch 'till the flooding subsides!

  • It has been very frustrating, shampton, to not see this on the news. There hasn't been any coverage at all. NBC used it as a lead in about the warm weather essentialy. I found it terribly offensive. Local news can only do so much, and as it is only covers from the air. These people need support and they aren't getting the donations that a disaster like this would normaly warrant. This could end up becoming a major humanitarian disaster as there are several large communities completely cut off from civilization. Sadly this will become a story when grocery prices rise again while our interstate arteries are shut down and truckers circumvent us spending even more on fuel.

Right now my mom and stepdad would be happy to crash on your couch considering the only way home right now is an hour treck up a steep ravine that has had landslides today. Its impassible by car, the entire town is impassible by car. The authorities have said don't even atempt to come to Collumbus or Martinsville this week.

Thank you for putting this on here. I moved from Columubs not too long ago, but my fiance', my friends, and a lot of family are still there. One of my friend's son is missing, he is 11. There is major destruction all over the place. As far as we know here, the water is headin towards us, in Jackson and Jennings counties, but haven't seen it as of yet. Please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers! And for those that have commented and have offered to help if they could, thank you and Bless you!

  • Very crazy situation. I was at work today and a tornado touched down right down the road. The weather just seems to be getting crazier and crazier.

  • My parents are in Hope, IN, near Schaefer Lake. The dam broke and flooded the whole street. My dad said the lake waters rose and it rained so much, that the boats sunk. Fortunately, my family lives across the street from the lake on a bit of a hill, so they are clear of the flood waters, but their neighbors weren't so lucky. My heart goes out to everyone affected by the floods. Especially those I know in Hope, and my brother over in Franklin. God bless.
