Often child labour is thought to happen in isolation in a few developing countries such as India, but an investigation conducted by The Observer newspaper has found that children as young as seven, are working on Nile Valley plantations, to supply cotton to the UK. Egyptian cotton has become synonymous with the luxury textiles industry throughout the western world and in Britain alone, the cotton industry is worth billions, but to what extent is this success down to the extreme use of child labour?
