Instead of the usual "e-card" for my birthday, I was sent this animated short.
Suffice to say, it blew my mind. From 1940 and without the aid of a camera, Mr. McLaren scratched and coloured these wild images directly onto 35mm film, frame by frame.
His work is like nothing I've ever seen. "Spook Sport" Enjoy!

norman mclaren is a genius .i wonder if aldous huxley and mclaren may have had a few sessions.

There's a great collection of McLaren's stuff on DVD. 7 discs, almost 900 minutes.
